It’s the candidates, stupid.
A lot of the GOPers who lost were just plain poor candidates.
GOP really needs to up their game. Trump can only do so much.
And that’s the thing. With so many late in the game retirements it left the GOP with too many holes to fill. 2020 will not be the same.
Some perspective on what Trump did:
In 2010, Obama lost 63 House seats and 6 Senate seats. In 1994, Clinton lost 54 House seats and 9 Senate seats.
Keep in mind, they had the media on their sides, and Trump has had an unprecedented, unrelenting media assault against him.
Despite it all, Trump loses only some 26 House seats and GAINS at least 4 Senate seats.
Not bad. Not bad at all!
