I live in rural Illinois and while there’s much wrong in Springfield, I like it here. So I’m not being defensive when I say that the “stink” is everywhere - tonight we saw Ted Cruz come within a couple percent of being defeated - in TEXAS! The point is, this is a marathon, not a sprint and Trump can only do so much. It seems pretty clear the Democrats overperformed in the House races where they had the best shot, Republicans need to learn from that if we don’t want this to happen every 2 years.
Yep. I personally am pretty shocked. I saw the polls. I know how we all (my family and friends) voted. Now, I know a lot of money and effort was thrown at this race but there is zero way it should have been this close....especially since Abbot won (at least as of right now) by 13.
I said a while back when I was looking at some polls that were showing Cruz winning by 3-5 that if that happened I was going to be very VERY concerned for 2020 in this state (the Senate). Cornyn is not as well liked among Republicans here and may face a tough primary challenge. If Beto were to run again....it just might get flipped.
Ted is officially 6% ahead of Beto in the vote count, and they're still counting votes in west Texas.
