The two-term governor wouldn't say where he might teach, but he indicated he would become a Florida resident because the state has no income tax and low property taxes. Gov. Paul LePage said Monday that he plans to move to Florida for tax reasons and teach at a university there regardless of who Mainers elect to succeed him.
Ill be a resident of Florida if Janet Mills wins, I can promise you that, LePage, referring to the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, said with a smile one day before Maine voters head to the polls.
Ill also be in Florida if Shawn Moody wins because I am going to retire and go to Florida, he said. I am done with politics. I have done my eight years. Its time for somebody else.
LePage answered questions from reporters during a Monday morning press conference to support the campaign of Eric Brakey, the Republican challenging independent U.S. Sen. Angus King. A Republican, LePage is also backing Moody a Republican from Gorham who founded a successful chain of auto body repair shops in the three-person race for governor between Moody, Mills and independent Terry Hayes.

Sounds like he really liked the job! :)
You know what, it’s refreshing to read that “it’s time for somebody else”
This guy must have actually cared to be this fed up after 8 years
Well one republican moving to Florida..
Florida needs an immigration policy...No Democrats...You get on a list and if someone dies you can move to Florida..
Amazing. A politician announces a move to another state ??
He’s done with the state he governed, and presumably liked living in, since he lived there and was governor?
Interesting.............
He better wait til the election tomorrow in case Gillum gets elected.
“You get on a list and if someone dies you can move to Florida..”
That’s what they did with the Packers ticket list. The waiting time is 12 years but the rule says that if the ticket holder dies, the family has first dibs before the team gives it back into circulation.
I;ve said it before, ALL red states should make disclaimer that only conservatives can move there..
so Isnt the weather better ?
That’s good advice. I’ve been thinking of where to go to get away from Maryland for several years...the clock keeps on ticking...and Florida has been my #1 but I think I may need to re-think.
Good for him. Hes a great guy and served Maineiacs well.
You would think he would have extremely deep roots in the state. Maybe he has been betrayed and stabbed in the back by too many Mainiacs?
I wish the Packer season ticket waiting list was 12 years. I have been on it since 1994 and I am still in the mid 20,000s.
LOL That’s nothing. I’m a Mariners fan since I was wee kid and I have never seen the playoffs since 1992.
Well, it is Maine. Beautiful state but bad winters.
Paul, wait until after the election, to see if Florida will elect a moron (Dems, moron is not racist... neither is cotton-picking or monkey...) who’ll put an income tax on the citizens of Florida. If Gillum wins - and Bob Stefanowski wins in Connecticut, we might move back to Connecticut...
To each his own, but I can’t understand why anybody in Maine would want to move to Florida to live amongst the lizards, gators and insects. For me, a much better choice would be Kansas with low taxes, less reptiles and bugs and better weather with four seasons and the proximity to tornado chasing opportunities every spring.
Clearly they have a supply/demand imbalance, with fixed supply of seats and prices below what “the market will bear.”
They just need to raise the prices .... there is an equilibrium there somewhere.
“If Gillum wins - and Bob Stefanowski wins in Connecticut, we might move back to Connecticut...”
I just may go back to the Jersey Shore. If Floridians are going to be taxed by that commie, what’s the point of living here? You will see a mass exodus.
The Nutmeg State has its attractions. Also, lotta liberals.
