House Speaker Paul Ryan pleaded with President Trump in a phone call to tout the booming economy rather than continue attacking the migrant caravan in Mexico in the final days before Tuesday’s midterm elections, according to a report on Monday.
The Wisconsin Republican reached out to Trump on Sunday and urged him to change his message but the president said his focus on immigration is firing up his supporters, Politico reported.
“Trump has hijacked the election,” a senior House Republican aide told Politico about Trump’s attention on immigration. “This is not what we expected the final weeks of the election to focus on.”

oh, and btw, anyone who bothers to watch an entire trump rally knows that he spends at least as much time listing all of his many economic accomplishments as he does on illegal immigration .. it’s the the damnable Lying Leftist Fake Stream Enemedia™ that chooses to omit all mention of the positive aspects of the Trump Presidency and focus almost exclusively on his remarks about illegal immigration, incorrectly believing that will hurt the GOP at the polls ...

i still remember that thrashing ... media had built ryan up to be some kind of policy genius, but instead Biden made mince-meat out of him ...
It is somewhat amazing this empty suit because speaker of the house. The financial media is already touting the amazing economy......no need to pile on. The caravan impacts swing ( suburban women voters, Hispanics and Blacks ) voters......folks who have been swinging toward the Republican party since Trump arrived.
He is building a bigger tent without Private Citizen Ryan........
