I was troubled to read a recent opinion piece written by the father of an LGBT+ son, implying that I was somehow a threat to his safety. Given the events of the last few days -- and the actual threat made against my seven children last week -- I am compelled to respond to the author, dad to dad. As parents, we can all agree that America must be a place that gives kids a chance to grow up safely, allowing them to be who they are and work towards whoever they want to be.
Nothing in my record of public service undermines that important principle. Let me be clear: I have never wanted to "fix gay teens," supported so-called gay conversation therapy, or voted in any way that suggests that I do, contrary to what my opponent has said. A bill I contested five years ago was about government intervening in client-therapist confidentiality, which I oppose. Even The Star-Ledger editorial board agreed with me, twice urging lawmakers to vote against that bill.
It was a vote that I knew could be twisted and exploited by political opponents, but I did what I knew was right for our children and for our state. Mark Dunec was the 2014 Democratic candidate in New Jersey's 11th Congressional District. He's supporting Republican Jay Webber to win this year's election.
Any of the horror stories about physically harmful practices that are often discussed when describing so-called gay conversion therapy are not practiced by licensed therapists and would not have been addressed by the legislation. Any legislation prohibiting the physical abuse of children is one I would support --indeed, I have been a leader in the Legislature in keeping our kids safe from sexual predators.

NJ Assemblyman, Jay Webber is the father of 7 children, a practicing Catholic, a member of the Knights of Columbus, he is pro-life and family, traditional marriage and for school choice, and much more. Please pray that he wins and wins big. The evil liberals are threatening his family.
He is running against

Constant election prayers, now including Jay continuing.
Our Lady of VICTORY...
PRAY FOR US!
there are thugs in the ghetto who don’t see any other way of life because no one opened up to them and showed them there are other ways they could live (here is one of the Run DMC guys making that argument as he rejects the message of the last 20 years of hip hop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPRmFJ_U8Ug)
I bring that up because there are men (and women) who fall into a life of debauchery or victimization as homosexuals because no one is allowed to show them another way.
Schools get 18 years of grooming your kids.
Even now actor Anthony Perkins’ history is slurred as homosexuals claim it wasn’t really his choice to be straight. He was just doing it to fit in or something.
And yet Anne Heche, and DeBlasio’s wife and others have turned a corner on their past and have settled into a monogamous heterosexual married life.
On her main page, nowhere does it mention her party affiliation...almost like she is embarrassed to state it! ;)
Terrible that his family was threatened.
Good luck to him this Tuesday!
Prayers said for Jay Webber and his family!
Please let us know how the race turns out.
Jay Webber should win...
Bump
Prayers of protection for Jay Webber and his family.
I have been praying The Great Litany during this campaign season. I think this verse is especially appropriate:
That it may please thee to strengthen such as do stand; to
comfort and help the weak-hearted; to raise up those who
fall; and finally to beat down Satan under our feet,
We beseech thee to hear us, good Lord.
Jay Webber should win... >>
yes, he should, he’s running in Rodney F’s district that has been gerrymandered a few yrs. ago, but it is a mid-term election with a Republican president, anything could happen.
Voted for Webber on Thursday at the county clerk’s office as I am out of town. Prayers for Jay and his family and for our miserable state.
Jay Webber should win...>>
he didn’t :(
Amazing...I thought we could get a few seats but I’m surprised that we lost so many House seats...I think the Dems need to focus on Americans and not to check out impeaching Kavanaugh and Trump...if they don’t work with Trump...2020 will be a bloodbath for the house...Also, if we get a good minority speaker, we might be able to help Trump...
NJ now has only one red representative: Chris Smith, a RINO; well at least he held on to his seat.
I’m not sure when the Northeast will ever go red again...oh well, maybe 2020...but most likely 2100...
that district was gerrymandered and it’s no longer viable for a republican candidate. I think NJ has one republican congressman and he switched from the dems. during trump and is not very conservative.
