Bill Clinton 'lost vital White House nuclear codes'

For several months during Bill Clinton's administration, a former top military officer says the White House lost the card with a set of numbers for opening the briefcase containing the codes for a nuclear attack.

Gen Hugh Shelton, who was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the time, said in his new memoir, "Without Hesitation: The Odyssey of an American Warrior" that "the codes were actually missing for months. That's a big deal -- a gargantuan deal."

A similar claim was made by Lt Col Robert Patterson, a former aide, in a book published seven years ago. He was one of the men who carried the briefcase, known as the "football", and he said that the morning after the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke that he made a routine request of the president to present the card so that he could provide an updated version.

I remember that. They also let the DPRK make fissile material, just like O was doing with Iran.

The folks who don’t want their own citizens have guns have no problem “leveling the playing field” with despotic countries that have killed millions.

Either it does not really undermine our entire nuclear deterrent, or something else is going on that we have not been told.

In that era the PAL codes for all our nuclear warheads was 000000.

The codes and cards are machine generated and never seen by humans until they are opened. The controls are tight and they are accounted for daily. If one is not accounted for then the replacement is accomplished within hours world wide and an immediate search and investigation is launched. It would be impossible for anyone outside of the NCA to have the ability and access to use the card in any way. Too many levels of controls built into the process from the president down to the keyturners.

It was an open joke in the IDF. Yes, we spied.

It has since been confirmed to me by a retired general. They were concerned about the civilians screwing it up. It started at “0000000” and all you had to do is press “go”.

The whole story has been known since late 90’s. Terry Reed wrote, Compromised in the late 80’s. We just didn’t have a leader liike Pres Trump who cared enough to fight the whole lot of them.
