Two New York lawmakers are working to draft a bill that would propose a social media check before a gun purchase.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and state Sen. Kevin Palmers proposal would allow authorities to review three years of social media history and one year of internet search history of any person seeking to purchase a firearm....
The two are hoping to identify any hate speech on social media profiles, which are often revealed only after someone is arrested in a mass shooting.

I’m surprised they even mentioned what they want. They are probably already doing it, truth be known.
Good little commies they are.
In other words, anyone at all posting anything here, unless it be pure hatred towards conservatives, would be denied a gun.
And what about those that have no Farcebook or Twitter history because they’ve never joined? Are they deranged loners hiding in the shadows just waiting to kill someone?
Asocial neurotic, or posting under false pretenses.
Denied.
They will determine sites like ours a social media interface as well as tweets and private emails.

Back door to registering online IDs.
Can’t search for your online public activity if they don’t know what handles you’ve used.
Would make it a crime to NOT report all your handles, lest your FrankDobbs1977 be for politically correct content, and SoveriegnSociopath be an apparently unconnected persona for your subversive anti-gov’t agitation.
Hate speech = anything conservative
You are obviously a loner who is disconnected from society and cannot be trusted.
Power was made to be abused.
Exactly how will this be accomplished? Isn’t that an invasion of privacy that the Dem’s hold sacred? Who will determine what is what and ow will it be determined, what criteria will be used? Lots of questions and no answers.
Just like the Chinese social media score. New York is a one party State -in effect.
I think we need mental health checks of those running for office and for re-election.
Almost everyone is concentrating on social media history but ignoring

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS:
Parker said the bills would cover posts to the top four social media websites Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter, and the main search engines, including Google, Yahoo and Bing. People requesting recertification would also be checked.
( Meaning periodic recertification of pistol permits. So, lose your 2nd Amendment rights or shut the f__k up online and lose your 1st Amendment rights. A win either way for leftists. )
Are that you posted a conservative article that did not fit their thinking. You used the word gun, hunting, knife are that democrats are dumb as a bag of hammers. You can only post what they tell you is acceptable
let see five years of the crooks Facebook, Twitter and email before they can even run are be in congress.
Like when you or I searched a string of key words that might easily be misconstrued? Or, when you researched anxiety disorders, because your aunt said your cousin had one? On and on.
Good point!
And who defines “hate speech”?
Yes, for this to work, you would have to submit a list, under penalty of perjury, of EVERYWHERE you post, your ID there, and your password if the forum supports private messages.
No way for this to be constitutional.
