It is amazing, isn't it? Kind of delicious when it blows up in their face. This truly was an example of where it did. Crowley can still pull it out, it's all about GOTV for the democrats.
Of course there needs to be a compelling, motivating reason to vote for them.

I must say though, half my family is Latino, legal, processed immigrants. They hate socialists with a passion and you can count on them all, with even the children voting this election, to vote straight conservative.
There, in a nutshell, is the reason my wife and I have no desire to live in or even visit urban areas...NYC in particular!

2012: Crowley 120k [83%], Gibbons (Republican) 21k [15%], others (mostly Green Party) 2%.
2014: Crowley 50k [88%], Elizabeth Perri (Conservative) - 6k [12%], Others 117 votes.
^^ Exceedingly low turnout.
2016: Crowley 147k (83%), Spotorno (Republican) - 30k (17%), others 191 votes.
I don’t think either Pappas (Republican) or Perri (Conservative) has a chance. Crowley hasn’t been campaigning; I don’t think he has a chance either.
The MSM always speaks of “power” in the lustful way a cartoon villain does, with no mention of “responsibility” or “service”.

But hey, FReepers all know all there is to know about NYC. After all, they’ve watched Sienfeld, Law & Order, Friends and the throngs at Time’s Square on New Years Eve (the vast majority of which do not live in NYC)
Good for you and your family. We have many friends of Mexican descent who are truly conservative in their lives.....they still vote Dem. I don’t get it but it is what it is here. And if you look at the Latino names in office here they’re all tribal. There all for illegals. They are the ones who get all this crap on the ballots here. I just have decided to not ever waste my vote and take the chance.
And I’m not the least bit prejudiced. We have lots of Mexican descent friends and quite a few married into the family. This is California.
That's been my thinking all along. Cortez is just a shooting star that will quickly burn out - in this election, anyway. The few remaining sane Democrats in the DNC do not want to lose the power this man has accumulated in 20 years (committee assignments, etc.) and will, IMO, give him under-the-table support. That, and him quietly calling in all those IOUs he has with his constituents will put him over the top.
Hope there's a precinct Hillary meltdown afterwards.
