The real work is building broad and deep support for the specific changes that will be proposed - and those that wont - but thats really hard.

Agree. Its up to the states to reassert their sovereignty. Thanks to a couple of early sixties scotus decisions that did enormous damage, state senate districts (one man one vote) are of near equal populations that disregard rural interests. It is entirely possible our democratized state legislatures will not step up to the plate and do what is necessary.
