SHIRLEY - A 62-year-old man was held without bail on weapons charges Thursday after police found dozens of guns and silencers in his home, according to the Middlesex district attorney.

Jeffrey Dusti of Great Road (Route 2A) was arraigned Thursday in Ayer District Court on 47 counts of possession of a firearm without a license, 44 counts of possession of a silencer, along with charges of possession of a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition and possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

Judge Margaret Guzman ordered Mr. Dusti held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Monday.

“The defendant is alleged to not only have been in possession of multiple illegal firearms, but to also have been illegally modifying the guns making them all the more dangerous,” District Attorney Marian Ryan said. “Simply put, there is no reason that a person with good intentions would require a silencer. Those devices are strictly made for violent and insidious purposes.”

At 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Massachusetts State Police gang unit, with a warrant, searched Mr. Dusti’s home, according to the district attorney’s office.

State police had been informed that Mr. Dusti was allegedly in possession of a homemade silencer, according to the district attorney’s office.

Police said they saw a sawed-off shotgun in plain view when they arrived, and said they also found approximately 35,000 rounds of ammunition, 44 homemade silencers and 47 unlicensed firearms.

At the time of his arrest, Mr. Dusti was the subject of a pending arrest warrant from Ayer District Court on charges of assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, two counts of making annoying phone calls and witness intimidation in connection with an unrelated offense.

In addition to state police and the district attorney’s office, investigators included the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Shirley Police Department. Assistant District Attorney William R. Freeman is the prosecutor assigned to the case.

More liburd propaganda. Suppressors are an important component of conscientious hunting, and contribute to hunter safety by him/her not having to use other hearing protection that may attenuate noise that would indicate personal danger.

Disgusting dhimmicrap gun-grab writ large.

I love when people use the word silencer. Makes them sound like they know exactly what they’re talking about. But I also like when people use “clip” for the thing that holds bullets. I never correct anyone misspeaking. I need entertainment because I dont watch tv.

“What’s wrong with the Route 2A explanation?”

2A = Second Amendment = comedy/irony

......two counts of making annoying phone calls....

There are many people guilty of that crime. Let's start with whoever keeps calling me, saying I may be eligible for a reduced rate stay at some resort or other, because I stayed at a hotel in the distant past.

From your linked article:
"There is clearly no instance in which a law-abiding citizen needs to be in possession of silencers," Ryan said. "Silencers exist for one purpose only, and that is to permit a gun to be used discreetly in the hopes of not being overheard or detected."
So much of our anti-firearms legislation has its roots in what foolish and ignorant politicians have "learned" from movies.

I still think the most critically needed constitutional amendment is that ALL laws AND exceptions shall apply equally to individuals as they apply agents and agencies of the government. If a conflict arises, the most beneficial result shall be granted to the individual.

Clear abridgement of second amendment civil right. A class action suit should be filed against all authorities involved.

It’s disgraceful when anyone who lives in the land of the Concord and Lexington Minutemen allows a bunch of thugs to come into his home and confiscate is firearms.

Clueless idiot.

That said, this guy does present a challenge. Why had he apparently made 47 silencers, made a sawed-off shotgun. The gang unit made the arrest so was he involved with gangs, reselling weapons?

Shall not infringe is long forgotten and ignored in Massachusetts, but what was this guy doing? Was this more than private ownership?

Every time I see an article counting rounds==oh so many!--I think about what I have, what I usually have just in the car. I keep 500+ of each potential caliber in the car, currently have 1-1/2 cases of 22LR, which alone means over 3,000 rounds. It all adds up. And that isn't even discussing my ammo safe. The reporting is ridiculous, guess good to scare clueless non-gun owners, but someone with 30,000 rounds doesn't even cause me to raise an eyebrow. You?

It is too bad he didn’t actually use any of those firearms against the government trolls who unconstitutionally stole them from him.

Massachusetts requires a Firearms ID (FID) in order to own a rifle or shotgun or other long gun such as a muzzleloader, or to purchase ammo for same.

A License to Carry Firearms (LTC) allows ownership (and concealed but not “open” carry) of pistols and revolvers, along with ownership of the aforementioned “long” guns.

All firearms must be kept under lock and key when not in use.

I still have one of the few Class A (large capacity) LTCs in Massachusetts and I religiously pay my $100 renewal fee every 5 years because I’m sure renewing would be much easier than getting a new issue from the town chief of police.

I wouldn’t believe anything from the neo-Nazi liars at the UK telegraph. That newspaper is trash.

Further, I strongly suggest you conservatives get off your asses and elect a pro-2nd amendment, Constitutional sheriff in your county. That way, when a rogue governor sends state cop gestapo to attack you, the gestapo is challenged by a heavily-armed 500 man sheriff SWAT team.
