MAYWOOD (CBSLA) A teacher was arrested Friday after a violent confrontation with a student inside a classroom.
Video of the incident at Maywood Academy High School shows the teacher swinging at the student following an alleged dispute over the uniform the student was wearing.
Police and school district officials had not identified the teacher at the time of this report.
Parents want answers.
Im shocked. Why did it have to escalate to this point? one

Did you read the comment section———the kid was calling the teacher racial insults————taunting him-——it IS an alternative school——so probably many problems.
That said, the teacher should NOT have hit the kid——but the kid was a troublemaker.
.
wish we could have seen what happen prior to what we see on the video.
A lot of blah, blah, blah in the reporting, but no real hard details.
The details seldom fit the agenda.
True.
However, odds are the little angel who provoked the teacher isn’t exactly the gent you’d want your daughter to end up with.
One website comment says ‘I’m a student at that school, and it wasn’t about a dress code. That student used racist words against the teacher, and somebody threw a basketball at the teacher. Totally unnecessary!”
If this is the case, nothing changes. The teacher displayed an alarming and sustained lack of self control. I could see one or two punches in self defense, but it wasnt in self defense. The teacher kept advancing while the kid kept retreating. He was out of control, even when a (yellow vested) female school employee stepped in and tried to pull the man back. Makes you wonder if this happened before in one of his classrooms.
“”Did you read the comment sectionthe kid was calling the teacher racial insultstaunting him-””
If the kid did that the kid would be in the wrong BUT that does not mean the teach can punch, kick or slap him...no matter what words the kid might have said........the teacher should have handles it different and that is my opinion
That kid was squaring up on the teacher and swinging. Arrest the kid too.
If the teacher threw his first punch in self-defense, that would be justified. But the student clearly wanted no more at that point, and the teacher chased him around the room, beating him.
Twenty years minimum, maximum security.
longer, different view with no blurring, but still don’t see how\why it started.

Oh, the boy said words. Good of you to biting that up. Very relevant to going ape spit savage on a scrawny kid.
What causes you to disregard the part about hitting the teacher with a basketball?
I really think we should have someone hitting blueyon with a basketball. It would be funny, and there is surely zero grounds to get hostile over something that funny.
Right?
The teacher hit the kid repeatedly. Lord only knows how many times more were punches not caught on video.
Trouble maker or not. This was over the top. Suspend him, expel him. But, this thug teacher had no self control and now hes going to pay the consequence. Idiot.
i disagree.
this whole adults should never hit kids is bs, and the same goes for men and women.
“.the teacher should have handles it different and that is my opinion”
Yup. Like suing the little puke afterwards..
I’m betting the brat had it coming.
Your opinion also happens to be the law. Sticks and stones...
what I think about it is, the teacher should have rung or gone for school security to remove said basketball head and remove scrawnyhead.
From the second video linked above, it seems to be black on black or black on mixed race, so I’m not buying ‘racist’ stuff since minorities claim they can’t be racist.
Teacher threw his career away over some punk kid. How stupid is that?
