Inspectors have found faults on two other Boeing 737 MAX jets including one which mirrors a problem reported on board the Lion Air plane which crashed on Monday.

Indonesian ministers ordered inspections on all MAX jets after the nearly-new Boeing, which is also used by the likes of United, Norwegian and Ryanair, came down killing all 189 people on board.

The transport ministry said on Monday that it had looked at over half a dozen jets so far and discovered that one had a problem linked to its cockpit display while another had a glitch in a jet stabilisation system.

Both planes are owned by Lion and will require new components to fix the issue.

“a glitch in a jet stabilisation system.”

Due to poor maintenance or a manufacturing problem? Time will tell.

" while another had a glitch in a jet stabilization system. "

How about a little more detail and focus on THIS!?!?!?!?!

This is a pretty big deal, especially if it accompanied by faults in the cockpit displays!!!!

Because, if your stabilization system isn't working properly, you would look to your displays to determine how best to respond!!!!!!

My understanding is that these planes are all brand new or within a year old, so maintenance on a cockpit display seems unlikely as the issue.

We know that the displays on the three planes were faulty, but we do not yet know that that contributed to the crash. Let’s let the people with access to the facts do a complete investigation before we collectively imitate the Democrat Party.

An engineer and a technician from Boeing have joined inspectors in Indonesia to help with the probe. So far, no other country is carrying out wholesale inspections.

...

My guess is that’s because the root cause is maintenance neglect by Lion Air.

If it was a “glitch” in the framulator, that would require a total reslanting of the system. Very expensive. Jus’ sayin’!

“Jargon,” is one of the enemies of clear communication.

Look up Eastern Airlines 401. A single burnt out light caused a plane crash. Even though I have never flown and probably never will, there is only one plane I would get on and that is a 777. Outside of pilot error it has a perfect safety record.

Having worked in the aviation field for over 35 years I can say that lack of clear communication can be deadly, on the ground as well as in the air. Also, in aviation HOPE is not a strategy. No pulling over and calling AAA at 30k feet.

“cockpit display problems”

Wouldn’t there be two sets of displays, one for the pilot and one for the co-pilot. My guess is that they are as independent as possible from each other.

The one that went down was purchased in August.

When you turn all control over to computers and software then it is inevitable that at some-point something is going to go wrong and people are going to die.
