The story I heard was that he was exiting the building when confronted by the 2 patrol officers arrived and they exchanged fire with him wounding both of them and I do believe one of them is the one with the more serious upper limb injury. Then he retreated to the third floor where he waited until the SWAT boys arrived and he exchanged fire with them hitting two. So it sounds like he had some 15 minutes of free range of the building. Thank God he didn’t kill more but it seems to me he could have. I guess you could say, he was wounded, but his wounds didn’t prevent him from engaging the SWAT team. None of this matters, of course, but I couldn’t help but wonder.

True.

I knew a Highly Respected Judge who retired early because he couldn't stand the games Attorneys played any longer. It was no longer seeking truth and justice rather the focus on the Attorneys and how they played their hand to win.

All this means is he’s doing what his lawyer told him, assuming he has a competent lawyer.

pleaded not guilty on Thursday to federal charges

The federal charges aren’t for murder, but for hate crimes. The state will be prosecuting him for murder. He apparently can face the death penalty in both sets of crimes. Also, he loses nothing by pleading not guilty. Perhaps he/his lawyer thinks that some kind of deal can be struck that lets him avoid which should be his fate.

I watch a lot of British murder mysteries. The ones set before the 60s always had the specter of the hangman standing by if someone was convicted of murder. In fact, it seemed that few who were found guilty were allowed to escape the noose within months of sentence.

The idea that someone can murder one or several people and get a life sentence or a death sentence carried out decades later, just seems wrong.

I just got a twelve hour Twitter timeout for saying that this POS deserves a fair trial this afternoon, followed by a proper hanging at 4:00 pm. Still like this plan.

“Outrageous....he can’t use the insanity plea because he is clearly insane...what sane person would do what he did..”

First off, you CAN use the insanity plea if you’re insane (that’s kind of the idea).

However, and far more importantly, “insane” as defined in the legal sense of the word means that one is incapable of understanding that what one is doing is morally or legally wrong. You can be bat$hit crazy in the common-sense meaning of that term, but if you try to exit from the scene of an incident to avoid getting caught, then you are NOT legally insane.

This guy is NOT legally insane - he knew exactly what he was doing, knew that it was legally wrong, and did it anyway...and then tried to leave the scene so as not to be caught. He is clearly very, very screwed up, but is still deserving of full punishment because he knew what he was doing.

I doubt you had the rage this guy had....once he determined it was a go to kill people...and he did just that....rage moved the very steps he took thereafter.

Keep in mind this guy was preparing ahead to do what he did.

My mom had a great uncle who was a judge. He lived in a very rural part of Pennsylvania. We all worried about him because if somebody he sent away to prison got out and came looking for revenge he was a pretty isolated target.

He carried...always! And he leased part of his land to a state trooper who dropped a prefab house and lived on it. Had to drive past the cop’s house to get to him. Smart man!

The whole thing is sick. I don’t want to think about it anymore.

Looks like he wrapped things up nicely for himself!

Everyone missed this Judge and tried to get him to reconsider stepping down early.....but he truly was finished watching Attorneys games and antics which had nothing to do with justice nor seeking the truth.

They need to ask him his neck size so they can get the rope pre-stretched.

standard first plea that all attorneys and public defenders tell you to make.

Now the sharing of info between defense and prosecutor and then they start haggling.
