House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) claimed on Tuesday that President Donald Trump cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order. The outgoing Republican leader made the remarks during a radio interview with Lexington, Kentucky area radio station WVLK.

But SCOTUS can. And Trump’s EO would eventually bring the issue the conservative/originalist-dominated to be resolved. But frankly, I’d feel much more comfortable about the outcome of that decision after ONE more ...replacement. Long past time for Ruthie to retire.
Although it’s probably true, the real purpose of even talking about an EO is to give the issue a high profile so it can be discussed, debated, added to the mix of issues for voters to consider, and perhaps get a case moving toward the Supreme Court. Ryan seems clueless about the higher purpose concept.
Ole open borders globalist Ryan objects. Surprise, surprise.
Can’t wait for this sorry a$$ to be gone. He’ll be showing up on the liberal news channels to spew his crap. I won’t be watching.
Everyone with even half a brain knows it should be ended. Trump is doing something unilaterally to get the conversation going, knowing full well the Supreme Court will decide if it can be ended with an Executive Order.
The 14th guaranteed the newly freed slaves were citizens, no questions asked - period.
What is happening now was subsequent court interpretations from case law. In todays world surely it can be re-interpreted to the original intent. The amendment is worded OK, it is the judge’s ruling that misses the mark. The EO will be challenged and the court ruling should go the “right” way!!!
Ryan is off base.
At best that would be a matter of opinion.
This will end up at SCOTUS one way or another
Birthright citizenship has never existed.
I do not believe that executive orders should be allowed to be used in instances where it is congress’s job to create law. When the shoe is on the other foot then everyone here would be crying about how wrong it is.
Did Ryan actually graduate from high school?
He continues to make me question that.
OK...let’s take it to the courts.Doing nothing sure ain’t working.
“We didnt like it when Obama tried changing immigration laws via executive action...”
But did the weasel protest what Obama did, like he is Trump?
How many of you think that Ryan will allow funding of the border wall after the election as he promised Trump?
WI people must know something about this man that I don’t.
Id gladly but him a ball gag.
Bye, Felicia.
This constitutional issue will certainly go to court. Until the courts rule, Trump needs to explain his reasoning IN DETAIL to the American people, going into the history of the Constitution and why his approach is the right thing for America.
Does anyone know if Ryan is a beneficiary of some of the cover money from that Congressional Slush Fund to pay off women?? I have always wondered if we are ever going to learn where our money went and who benefited from the taxpayers covering their a$$es. I have sort of figured that all those retiring, as relatively young men, are doing so to make sure they arent outed as sleazes.
Didn’t ObaMao invent DACA with an Executive Order?
