"If they were reading Russian novels, what's the big deal? They all end the same."

I'm surprised they were able to find the end of a Russian novel.

The problem with Russian novels is that after reading a few pages of Dostoevsky I was mentally exhausted and felt like I had been in a room where people were screaming at each for no reason.

But I have soldiered on and just finished The Possessed/the Devils which shows the influence of Nihilism on Russians in the mid-1800s. Dostoevsky blames atheism.
