The EU was a dumb idea. It has as its goal the elimination of countries, their national identities and cultures. It proposes to suck them all up into a United States of Europe, a super-government NOT based on Christian principles, but friendly to *slam.

It includes redistribution of money from those who work hard to those who just coast along.

There has been a rebellion. Hungary, Poland, Italy, Germany and Austria in part and the UK in a limited way. merkel’s open welcoming invitation to bearded savages is the cause. She began the destruction of European countries.

Go back to the Common Market, and dump the EU with its president and parliament.

As Nigel Farage (*the* driving force behind Brexit) has observed that the original idea of the European Community,developed in the 1950s,was a good one.

But power hungry leftists have gradually turned it into a modern day USSR.

IMO European nation can have the same kind of relationship that the US and Canada have...friendly and peaceful but with no special immigration/residency rules and with judicial and legislative systems that are entirely separate and sovereign.

The Warsaw Pact countries need to form their own bloc/union and split away from the EU. Let the US back them instead of the western Europe freak show that will become a caliphate within decades.

The author makes secession sound like an unattractive option. I disagree. A seceding State such as Italy or Greece for example could simply default on its sovereign debt. Mostly it’s banks in other European countries (read France and Germany) which hold sovereign bonds. It would hardly be a first for either country. They could reintroduce the Lira and Drachma respectively and use their old tried and true formula of competitive devaluation. Sure there would be some initial pain but with the devaluation, their goods would suddenly be much cheaper on world markets. They could finally start putting people back to work again. That sounds much more attractive than perpetual austerity and sky high unemployment which they currently have.......along with putting up with Brussels constant interference in their domestic affairs.

In the end, the Yurp elites are just going to have to suck it. They’re not going to be able to force their will on the entire continent - the voters be damned if they don’t like it. How long it takes the arrogant jackasses to accept that reality is anybody’s guess but they will cling to their delusions to the bitter end.

Or, a third possibility (which has historically been repeated for thousands of years) Europe dessolves into genocidal wars, from which smaller nations eventually emerge.
