As Nigel Farage (*the* driving force behind Brexit) has observed that the original idea of the European Community,developed in the 1950s,was a good one.

But power hungry leftists have gradually turned it into a modern day USSR.

IMO European nation can have the same kind of relationship that the US and Canada have...friendly and peaceful but with no special immigration/residency rules and with judicial and legislative systems that are entirely separate and sovereign.

The Yurp Elites are bitterly opposed to that. They dream of a Yurp superpower that they control (natch!) set up in opposition to the US and operating on the basis of touch freely soft socialism, Gaia Worship and of course, multiculturalism. Then they’ll be able to smugly hold themselves out as being oh so much “more civilized” forevermore.

I did part of college and both grad degrees over there and I worked in Europe twice. I know these people (Yurp elites). Believe me. The things they say - not in English - when they think no Anglo-Saxons are around are quite different from what they say to Americans or even most Brits.
