SF spends $300,000 to register noncitizen voters — a whopping 49 sign up ( San Francisco )

San Francisco’s effort to get noncitizen parents to the ballot box is pretty much a bust the first time out, with only 49 signing up to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

Back in July, the city began registering noncitizens — including undocumented immigrants — to vote in school board elections.

The program is the first-of-its-kind in California and followed passage of a 2016 San Francisco ballot measure opening school elections to noncitizens who are over the age of 18, city residents and have children under age 19.

The city spent about $310,000 setting up the new registration system and encouraging people to sign up.

But Donald Trump’s election quickly put a damper on enthusiasm for the idea. This year, city officials began voicing concerns that signing up could expose people here illegally to detection by Immigration and Customs Enforcement since voter rolls — including home addresses — could be subpoenaed by the feds.

Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer urged the city to spend as much as $500,000 to warn undocumented residents that registering to vote could point ICE their way — but then-Mayor Mark Farrell nixed her initial request for $125,000 to get the ball rolling.

Whatever the case, the tally to register noncitizen voters comes to about $6,326 per sign up.

The brain cancer of liberal ideology seems to be more deadly than AIDS in SF.

State voting egibility laws are strictly and constitutionally determined by the state but they can only vote for state offices - how California is going to determine that is beyond me and immediately calls into question the validity of the California ballot.

Let’s see: If my math is right that’s just over $6k per voter. Nice work if you can get it.

Lefties using illegals and their spawn ( the Cloward and Piven strategy ) to overwhelm the welfare state thus bankrupt the system. Doing a great job so far.

UN Agenda 21 ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)

i wonder if a class action suit could be brought against sf from voters not in sf. sf dilutes the votes and voting rights of non-sf voters which would seem to be injury and thus standing for a suit.

Interesting.

There’s an apparent conflict between “only 49 illegals signing up for city elections” and “millions of illegals vote.” I would expect Dems to spin this as “See, there’s very few illegals who vote.”

My take is there’s no inconsistency. If I were illegal, and could be motor-votered into the general election, why would I bother to declare myself illegal for the city election?

It could - but I doubt it would fly. You could also have the SF residents arguing that google, Apple et al have flooded the city with rich tech geeks who have disenfranchised the natives (both in voting and living).

Or sue to get a chic-fil-a or wal-mart removed.

It may spread to federal position but they are voting on local
school issues. Now granted local schools get federal dollars.

They are scared. And they should be because most of them probably know where this country is going and are safe for now in CA

calif citizens moving from calif point a to calif point b would seem to me not to dilute the calif citizens vote. sf registering non usa citizens would seem to me to dilute calif citizens’ vote. (i am likely missing something.)

This continues, America will die. The ballot is much more powerful than bullets. The leftists goal is to control American state capitals, “urban” areas, universities and as many local governments as possible. A big successful push has been Soros backed AG races and judges going to leftists.
