It would be a nice set up, for controlling the narrative (which is what this is about).
Will it kill momentum - maybe - but often these things can have the opposite of the intended effect. There’s a lot of the story here that is unknown, but that won’t stop the media from going crazy right off and the attention given to this will be primarily in the first hours.
It definitely doesn’t help.

Amen friend. Look at all the gripping going on here and we don’t know yet the suspect’s identity or political affiliation. It doesn’t change anything. The Democrats are still the biggest threat to this nation and we need to stop them. The timing and visuals make this all suspicious. A party reeling in the polls has several of their political figures receive “bombs” in the mail two weeks out from a major election, and the suspect arrested may already be known by law enforcement authorities as someone who has made terrorist threats, plus his vehicle is plastered with stickers of the leader of the opposition party. C’mon folks none of us was born yesterday. You ought to have your radars up and be suspicious regardless of how this all goes down!
I feel pretty confident that we can chalk this one up to wacko with a major CNN overreaction to come. The fact that he has priors for threatening judges can’t be scrubbed from his past. The guy is crazier than a ____house rat.
I would think they didn’t blow up because they weren’t opened, or were very carefully later. For people who keep asking that.
Also I think they said sending decoys is also a separate crime, but they certainly didn’t treat them as decoys.
