A federal judge on Wednesday ordered Georgia election officials to stop summarily tossing absentee ballots because of mismatched signatures, delivering a crucial win to voting-rights advocates and to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams less than two weeks before Election Day.

Should be no choice in the matter
I got a phone call from the Beto team a couple of days ago. Asked if I was voting for him. I said no. The caller lady said, oh, you’re leaning against? When I said I wouldn’t vote for him in a million years, she laughed out loud.
They’ll probably count the ballots anyway even if the identity can’t be verified.
“But this could backfire on the Dems! “
P R O S E C U T E (with a different judge)
WP is trying to spin this as a big Democrat victory, but I doubt than many will come in to confirm their identity.
Also, my guess is that most of these mismatched signatures that were rejected are grossly mismatched, not even close. Just a guess mind you.
It’s too bad you live in an area where you don’t feel safe enough to vote on election day. I can understand your concern, and choice to go to a safer area to vote early. I see you live in Maryland. Are you in or near Baltimore?
Good point.
“LEANING AGAINST”???BWAHA!!!
Oh PLEASE, let one of them call me !!
Good guess!
I suspect most of these ballots were assisted by the Abrams campaign, and the actual voter never signed off on them, so the Abrams campaign just signed for them.
When these voters are contacted pursuant to this ruling, all hell will break loose!
I can just see it now: What? I never submitted that ballot! And, Those young people with purple hair and rings in their noses who were trying to get me to vote against my wishes must have forged my signature!
Ha ha!
I think the way the law was being applied was idiotic. If I wrote with a middle initial and signed without, that’s kicked out? Seems overzealous. Good decision to give the owners of the questioned absentee ballots opportunity to identify and correct. Great opportunity to see how many are false and no one comes in to claim. State or feds should follow-up on those.
Yes, good decision. I am LOL at the Abrams campaign.
Most of these signatures are out and out forged by Abrams. Shes gonna get an outcome of her federal suit that she never expected!
Judge is an Obama Appointee. Just sayin.
True, but her decision my have very unintended consequences!
And notice, that there is no comment from the Secretary of States office (Brian Kemp is SOS, and her oppponent in the governors race).
Kemp is not appealing this decision. I think he knows how disastrous this will play out for the Dems.
You mean I have to sign my ballot in cursive .... I don’t read or write foreign languages.
“All absentee voters with mismatched signatures must be contacted and given the chance to correct their ballot.”
Is this the law or did the judge just make it up? I am guessing the later. Rulings like this need to be appealed all the way up to Kavanaugh. Activist judges need to be stopped.
I miss those days. Sometimes there would be rain, snow, wind and ice cold, but I always loved the experience. Unfortunately, my state of Washington requires mail-in voting and have for several years.
We voted 3 days ago and as always, my wife dropped the ballots off at the courthouse. I refuse to use the mail for such things.
I recognize that my vote doesn’t count much in this lib state, but i’ll keep voting until I am gone from this world.
Its an interesting ruling. It will cause a delay in the certification of the Georgia midterm races, but it may have some beneficial effects also.
If, as I suspect, these mismatched signatures are from ballots that were assisted by the Abrams campaign, and are actually forged signatures, we are going to see the exposure of Dem voter fraud like never before. Because of this ruling.
This ruling was a result of a federal lawsuit filed by the Democrat candidate for the GA governors office - Stacey Abrams.
The schadenfreuide is going to be enormous.
” It will cause a delay in the certification of the Georgia midterm races, but it may have some beneficial effects also. “
That however is irrelevant as far as if this ruling was based on the law or not or if this ruling actually violates the law. Georgia state law obviously calls for the disposal of such ballots in the manor they have been deposed of. Is there any federal law that is being violated? If not then this ruling is actually in violation of state law. Who benefits is irrelevant. This judge is mostly likely committing a crime, and if so then they should be charged as such.
I dont know all the legalese.
I just think its funny that the consequences of this federal lawsuit ruling could come back and bite the Dems in the butt.
Maybe you should file your own federal lawsuit?
