Trump: 'I am bringing out the military' to stop border crossings
The Hill ^ | 10/25/18 | MEGYN KELLY

Posted on 10/25/2018 6:09:31 AM PDT by yesthatjallen

President Trump said in an early morning tweet on Thursday that he is "bringing out the military" to secure the border with Mexico, calling it a "National Emergency."

"Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council is right when he says on @foxandfriends that the Democrat inspired laws make it tough for us to stop people at the Border," Trump tweeted. "MUST BE CHANDED, but I am bringing out the military for this National Emergency. They will be stopped!"

Trump tweeted last week that he would use the military to stop a caravan of migrants from Central America, which has reportedly swelled beyond 7,500, if Mexico did not stop it.

"I must, in the strongest of terms, ask Mexico to stop this onslaught - and if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!" Trump tweeted.

He said Wednesday night at a rally in Wisconsin that the "military are ready" to help secure the border against the caravan, according to NBC News.

The Mexican ambassador to the U.S., Gerónimo Gutiérrez, said Monday that Mexico will continue to work to halt illegal immigration into its country and work with the Trump administration to block the caravan from passing into the U.S.

The Hill could not reach the Pentagon for immediate comment on whether or not it has received formal orders to enforce immigration law.

Last week, a spokesman for the Pentagon, Lt. Col. Jamie Davis, said the military had not be tasked to support those working to secure the border.

“Beyond the National Guard soldiers currently supporting the Department of Homeland Security on our southern border ... the Department of Defense has not been tasked to provide additional support,” Davis said in a statement.

I would like to see the military sent into Mexico to stop the invaders before they get to the border.

Mexico can deport all those people back to their countries of origin.
If Mexico does not, then Mexico is complicit.

In that event we should stop all wire-transfers of money to Mexico (billions), close the border to trade, etc.

1) If true (military to border), then this is good.

2) From what I was hearing this morning, Megyn Kelly was going to be fired from NBC today. Looks like she wrote this article?

Already has a new gig?

Send them into Mexico.

Invade.

Two can play this game.

Again I say, concentrate 25,000 border agents in the area the invaders want to cross. Use the military to protect the rest of the border. Don't want any incidents with military on CNN news.

The 'bad guys' flood the border at one point, then move drugs and other contraband over un-protected areas - those areas the military needs to protect.

It appears that the Mexican government isn't doing anything. Doesn't the Mexican government have an army?

This is clearly the right solution in my opinion. We sent troops to the middle east for years, and the primary explanation was it was better to fight them over there verses over here. Now our primary problem is more local to our actual borders, so we should adapt and deploy our terrorist control mechanisms into Mexican cities, especially those on the border. Block terrorists, drug runnuers, and invading armies of so called migrants. “Clear and Present Danger” is a great description.

Does anyone know if the manufacturers of concertina wire are on overtime?

Aren’t we still technically in a “war on terror” which gives the president authorization to repel any suspected terror activity?
Wasnt there an authorization given after 9/11that has never expired?

Dear Mexico,

Remember the last war you and America had?
You know?
The one you LOST?
After you lost, guess what?
There was no Mexico.
We took it ALL.
We ALLOWED you to have that southern area.

Might want to consider that little piece of history.

Sincerely, USA.

Don’t know about wire, but the stock of the company that has in the past been hired to construct holding facilities (CoreCivic) is up in a down market. Coincidence?

I was thinking about the yesterday too. I have no military experience, but I would think that doing some things far from the border to discourage them from continuing would be better than waiting till they arrive and having to deal with them mere feet away from the border.

Maybe some infiltrators to damage trucks, puncture water tanks, mess with food supply and make life generally miserable.

Another group ahead could tear some roads up, spike the roads with nails or huge boxes of Lego’s.

Some of those Humvees with the microwave generators would also be helpful.

I’d think the Mexican government could be encouraged to look the other way for a while.

Yeah, like when the Mexican Army & UN forces stood by as the immigrants swarmed the bridge a few days ago. They could flatten the tires of transport vehicles used by the caravan very easily but, no.

So naive. The military was sent to the border last time too. They were there to supplement Border Patrol while they processed the paperwork to let the illegals screaming ‘credible fear’ in by 2’s.
I’ll be totally surprised if it’s for anything different this time.

If Mexico can't stop invaders from getting into the Rio Grande, why shouldn't we station troops south of the border to stop the invasion? Mexico talks a good game, but why aren't they arresting leaders and those who provide transportation to invaders into Mexico?

Even maniacal dems have to realize this could be the end of the nation if it sets precedent.
