U.S. spy agencies have determined that Russia and China are eavesdropping on President Trump's phone calls in order to gain information that they can use to influence American policy, according to a New York Times report.
Although Trump's aides have repeatedly warned him that his three personal iPhones are not secure, the president refuses to give them up, the Times reported. He continues to use them to chat with friends and confidantes.
China has reportedly been keeping track of the people who Trump speaks to the most, compiling them into a list of figures to target with pro-Chinese messaging. While Russia's efforts are less coordinated, they are listening in to conversations in order to seek insight into the U.S. president's thinking.
Two of those people who Beijing has identified as frequent Trump contacts are Stephen Schwartzman and Steve Wynn, businessmen and friends who Trump speaks with regularly, the Times reported. Chinese businessmen have been deployed to feed strategic messages to both men in the hopes that they will then report pro-Chinese arguments to the president.
A spokeswoman for Schwartzman, who is a chief executive with asset management company Blackstone Group, said he "has been happy to serve as an intermediary on certain critical matters between the two countries at the request of both heads of state."
A lawyer for Wynn, a former casino magnate, said he had no comment.
President Trump has three iPhones, none of which are completely secure. Two of them have been made more secure by the National Security Agency, but the third iPhone is no different than any other, the Times reported.
Trump aides told the Times that they hope he does not share confidential information during those phone calls, as Chinese and Russian spies listen in.
The president has refused to swap out his official phones every 30 days as he is supposed to, citing the inconvenience it causes.
I don’t believe a single word of it.
Obama did the same thing, but that was OK.
Another hit piece from the failing NYT. On schedule.
-----------
No, they're just supposed to inform their pals in the media.
Whos to say Trump isnt doing this in order to feed misinformation to the Chinese and Russians?
I should have said, disinformation.
This reads like it was written by Hillary to absolve herself- like when Hillary tried to make herself look normal by falsely claiming Condi Rice and Colin Powell did the same things she did.
Sounds like conceptual prep work.
So that later when something DOES happen, the left can blame Russia “and Trump’s refusal to take proper countermeasures”.
They are laying the groundwork.
You don’t believe Emily?
The girl with her heels slung over her shoulder, walking home barefoot in black thigh high stockings.
“Whos to say Trump isnt doing this in order to feed misinformation to the Chinese and Russians?”
That was my first thought.
It’s Deep State disinfo.
Here’s the NYT article: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/24/us/politics/trump-phone-security.html
Notice the authors, including one Maggie Habermann (the same who openly conspired with Hillary to produce stories during the campaign).
Notice that there are no identifiable individuals whatsoever who are the source of the info for the story. We are supposed to believe that Trump’s aides with access to national security info are talking to NYT reporters? Ludicrous.
There is ONE person who is quoted by name: a “John Sipher”. Longtime CIA asset, who still to this day has pinned on his Twitter account a post claiming that the Steele Dossier is credible.
So the bottom line here is that this is a propaganda piece originating from a rogue CIA asset, one whose ass may personally be in the sling from a full investigation of the Clinton coup attempt.
> Whos to say Trump isnt doing this in order to feed misinformation to the Chinese and Russians?
Because there’s not a prayer in hell that Maggie Habermann would voluntarily cooperate with Trump in any way.
See my analysis above. Deep State propaganda hit piece. They’re throwing everything at the wall, they are so desperate to stop the investigations.
‘cause Trump put his servers in an unsecured broom closet?
That’s Trump!
We’ve got two weeks to go.
This is going to be super fun.
Wait. Stop the presses. Russia and China have spy agencies and they, gasp!, spy on the US?!?!.
Maybe POTUS should keep his iPhone in a bathroom closet and wipe them with a cloth or something.
This sounds like crap. Its the CIA or someone in an agency trying to scare Trump. Or to make Trump seem similar to Hillary. Either way, this is totally silly. If the Chinese are listening in. They are also, listening in from the other side. So they would hear the conversation anyway. And of course they would be listening in on every important person in the country.
If you think our government is smart, you don’t know our government. Likely, any phone the government gives to Trump, is hacked.
Judge Nap was going all in on the comparison.
I think you misunderstood. I meant that Trump might be keeping and using the personal cell phones in order to use them to feed disinformation to the Chinese and Russians.
Oh ok. I think then that you take the claims too seriously.
You should not even get to the point of trying to evaluate the truth of the claims - they are false beyond a reasonable doubt, based on the source and sourcing.
Any time you spend evaluating the claims themselves is a complete waste of your time - they can lie faster and with less effort than we can debunk. So it’s no longer appropriate to spend any time debunking the claims themselves, all we need do is note the plethora of red flags of hoax journalism that are present to conclude the story is a fabrication and enemy propaganda.
...And who does the NY Times claim is the source for this?
Although Trump's aides have repeatedly warned him that his three personal iPhones are not secure, the president refuses to give them up, the Times reported. He continues to use them to chat with friends and confidantes.
Who says? Is the author implying that the same aides who are so concerned are leaking to the press so other countries and people can go "Aha! Let's eavesdrop too!" Who else would know what Trump's aides have warned Trump about?
China has reportedly been keeping track of the people who Trump speaks to the most, compiling them into a list of figures to target with pro-Chinese messaging.
Did the NY Times get this from a Chinese spy? If not, how would they know the Chinese have compiled this list, or tht it is more coordinated than the Russians' efforts?
While Russia's efforts are less coordinated, they are listening in to conversations in order to seek insight into the U.S. president's thinking.
Did the NY Times get this from a Russian spy? If not, how would they know the Russians are listening to these phones, or why, or that the Russians are less coordinated than the Chinese?
Two of those people who Beijing has identified as frequent Trump contacts are Stephen Schwartzman and Steve Wynn, businessmen and friends who Trump speaks with regularly, the Times reported.
How would the NY Times know who Beijing has identified? unless their source is Beijing?
Chinese businessmen have been deployed to feed strategic messages to both men in the hopes that they will then report pro-Chinese arguments to the president.
How would the NY Times know Beijing has been feeding info to these two people unless their source is Beijing?
A spokeswoman for Schwartzman, who is a chief executive with asset management company Blackstone Group, said he "has been happy to serve as an intermediary on certain critical matters between the two countries at the request of both heads of state."
A person openly discussing his knowledge of China is not "feeding" info.
A lawyer for Wynn, a former casino magnate, said he had no comment. President Trump has three iPhones, none of which are completely secure. Two of them have been made more secure by the National Security Agency, but the third iPhone is no different than any other, the Times reported. Says who and how do they know?
Trump aides told the Times that they hope he does not share confidential information during those phone calls, as Chinese and Russian spies listen in.
Again, why would people so concerned with security leak to the press?
The president has refused to swap out his official phones every 30 days as he is supposed to, citing the inconvenience it causes.
So we know this how?
