Elon Musk is grinning ear to ear today.
Tesla shares jumped nearly 12.72 percent as a former short-seller of the stock cried uncle and admitted that Tesla was "destroying the competition." The stock registered the biggest gain by far on the Entrepreneur Index. After a volatile day, the index closed down 0.26 percent.
Citron Research, party to a securities class action lawsuit against Tesla over Mr. Musk's tweets earlier this year about going private, published a note this morning saying that Tesla's Model three was causing "a legitimate disruption of the auto industry." Tesla announced yesterday that it would report earnings on Wednesday -- earlier than expected. If, as Musk has promised, the company shows a quarterly profit for the first time and hits revenue targets, the remaining shorts on the stock may really feel the squeeze.
Tesla's big day came in the face of a market that whipsawed from another big sell-off in the morning to an encouraging rally as the day progressed. The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond dropped 8 points in the morning as investors moved cash to safety, then rose five in the afternoon as they returned to the stock market.

“Yeah...buy one...And tell us how great it is.”
Well I can say that I’ve driven them and that none of the people I know that own them have reports any major negative experiences. Since you knock Tesla so hard have you owned one? Did you get stranded somewhere?
Space X impresses me, Tesla does not.
Consumer reports has listed Tesla number one in customer satisfaction for a few years. There are some problems, but owners seem to really like the company for the most part.
Visit some of the owners forums to see for yourself.
Where did I say I knocked Tesla...”so hard” using your words?
Never understood the Escalade BS.
What an over priced POS.
More likely, in two years, everyone who wants a Tesla will have one. Then what? Share price crash.
Your are being evasive, have you owned or driven one?
You are an idiot.
I used one for 2 years.
Plugging it in every day meant it was always “full”. Preferable to ICE cars.
Not sure what you mean by “new batteries”. Seems they last way past 100,000 miles, maybe 3x that with little degradation.
Tesla has the SUV, just need a “ruggedized” version.
Tesla pickups are coming.
“Consumer reports has listed Tesla number one in customer satisfaction for a few years.”
And yet the same Consumer Reports have Tesla as one of the worst quality cars. That is based on Consumer (Tesla Owners) Questionnaires.
Call it what you want, Cultish fan boys, Stockholm Syndrome Customers......
At this time next year, Tesla will be on the verge on bankruptcy
Then why are the taxpayers funding this company?
I mean until you get batteries that will allow to drive 400 miles and recharge in about 5 minutes, they will be niche vehicle limited to just daily commutting.
I live in Texas. Most of my drives to visit relatives are on the order of 400 miles. I ain’t stopping at the truck stop to charge the batteries to get to grandma’s house for Thanksgiving.
It’s almost moot, as Teslas will never be affordable, even by today’s shockingly high average new car selling price.
And a whole bunch of competitors from established companies are coming out now. It’s a niche market, perhaps comparable to Land Rover or Volvo.
“Then why are the taxpayers funding this company?”
Seems to me they paid off Obama’s loans years ago.
THEY HAD TO...IIRC the loan was structured that they had to bring to market the promised 35k Model 3 by a certain date. That date has long come and gone. Telsa knew they could only be profitable on a 80k avg. car price, not 35k. And that remains true so far.
Electric vehicles are a filthy scam.
They create far more environmental polution and carbon emmission impact in vehicle component, battery manufacturing and propulsion than contemporary internal combustion engines.

Eff Musk and Tesla groupees.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Yeah based on what? Nissan makes the Leaf right and I see them far more than I see anything Tesla.
