Robin Wright says there was 'no hesitation' in filming final season of 'House of Cards'

Claire Underwood had no problem filling her husband’s shoes.

House of Cards’ sixth and final season will air next month, but there was a time when it wasn’t known whether the Netflix political drama would be returning.

The series' leading man, Kevin Spacey, who played former president Francis Underwood, was fired from the show last November following allegations of sexual assault, which he has denied.

This debuts on Nov. 2. Can't say what the actual political impact will be, regardless of the authors' intent, because, up to now, "House of Cards" has accurately shown DC to be the real shit hole it is. That being the case, I'll definitely watch it, especially to see how they manage to finish off Frank Underwood without bringing Spacey back onto the screen .

Like many series, House of Cards really jumped the shark after Season 4. It ran way out of fresh ideas and episodes.

But who knows? Maybe a Spacey free HOC season might just work. Bring in a strong leading man and see what happens.

Yep, and one that doesn’t hit up on male teens.

Oh please! This is going to be an even bigger disaster than “The Conners” without Roseanne.

Like him or not, Spacey WAS HOC. His performance of Underwood is what made that show so great.

The only people who Robin Wright as the lead will appeal to are liberal man-hating #MeToo Femynists....

It’s a compelling show that started out with a certain level of verisimilitude, and then gradually became more preposterous. But it was always intended that Spacey’s character would be eclipsed by Wright’s — just not with a complete, er, flameout.

I will check it out.

SPOILER ALERT:

I don't know for sure, but it seems obvious to me that Claire refuses to pardon F.U., and he goes to jail or commits suicide.

Then we have the Hillary Presidency, with Claire as Hillary.

I thought she was kinda cute in The Princess Bride. 'Course that was 30 years ago.

Great show for showing what goes on in the Swamp, although the homo stuff made me cringe.

True.

Spacey was great in that show, and true, the writers ran out of fresh ideas. Period.

And no, nobody will tune in for Robin Wright.

“Then we have the Hillary Presidency, with Claire as Hillary.”

Since we pretty well know how the Witch would have run the presidency, it ought to be fun to see how a fictional witch will. Potential barf alert.

Yeah, we gave up mid season 4. The show just ran out of gas.

Sorry, the real House of Cards was on the BBC in 1991, with two sequel series in 1993 and 1995. Ian Richardson set the gold standard of on screen political villainy as Francis Urquhart.

I tend to agree with you.

HOC without Spacey will be like All in the Family without Archie Bunker.

And she was good in Forest Gump. She is a very good actress, politics aside.

i really looked forward to the final season, even though the last few were pretty slow.

I am really having a hard time following this season and I definitely will not binge it.

We are HOC fans and WERE looking forward to this last season. As another comment stated, this is like All in the Family without Archie Bunker. It SUCKS!

We’ve only watched 2 episodes and now agree if it doesn’t take a more exciting turn in episode 3, we are DONE!

It is obvious Kevin Spacey MADE that show. It is nothing without him. To add to the awfulness, it is force feeding the audience the whole feminist, me-too, political agenda crap. In just 2 episodes the message is clear, “Rich, white men are BAD and their time is up.”

Nauseating! To add to it, the acting is very flat and stilted.

Also there is an awful storyline going between Claire and an old friend played by Diane Lane. They are having a subtle cat fight that one can already predict will probably end with Claire killing her. Their cattiness reminds me of Linda Evans and Joan Collins in Dynasty.

I only watched the first episode and it was a total feminist oriented bore. I won’t say Spacey carried the show but his wonderfully evil and scheming character gave it the spice it needed with the interaction between him and Wright being fantastic. They really worked as a couple.

Even though Spacey was a rump riding, casting couch employing predator, he was still a good actor, and I’d have continued watching the show for that reason. After all, George Patton was an adulterer and a rather unpleasant person, but a superb general at the right time and place.
