Guy Madison played “Wild Bill Hick-cock”
Always liked Andy Devine.
Madison was nothing to throw overboard!
“He was my hero when I was a kid. Roy Rogers, Dale Evan, Trigger and Buttermilk. I loved that show.”
You left out Nellie Bell
It was a huge mistake to let the schools fall into the hands of the leftist radicals, communists and new-age racists.
And it is an even bigger mistake to let it continue.
Instead of learning to appreciate, respect and love America, our culture and our traditions children are taught to resent their own culture and hate their country.
Exactly right. First, cultural suicide. Shortly after that, national suicide. Which we are in the throes of right now.
All these comments .. memories when life felt a lot safer than it is today.
MAN ! ... Did THAT list ever go back !
“Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy...”
Midnight was the cat on The Buster Brown Show (Froggy the Gremlin). He growled “n-i-i-c-e”
So......wouldnt that make the group the Gransons of the Pioneers?
RLTW
I met Roy Rogers at a store opening. I found him to be a very gracious and down to earth person. RIP
“Remember The Lone Ranger and Tonto?”
DirecTV shows all The Lone Ranger episodes. Hubby has 25-30 in the DVR at all times. In the opening of the very first episodes, the announcer says the Lone Ranger is “a FABULOUS man”. We get a kick out of that every time.
They’re the Grandsons of the Pioneers.
“Ken Curtis who did a few John Wayne movies”
When my aunt, a big “Gunsmoke” fan, visited this summer, I played some YouTubes of Ken Curtis singing. She was shocked that “Festus” had such a voice. I think I read somewhere that Ken Curtis followed Frank Sinatra as the singer in some big band.
Indeed, Mr. Curtis was a great singer.
I think the first “Rap” song was done by Roy Rogers and Bob Hope in “Son of Paleface”. The song was done in the scene with Jane Russell.
That's because the Brits haven't yet made copyright eternal. Don't worry though, our legislooters are pushing them hard to make sure that the great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren of authors will get their royalty checks.
Not sure, but my guess is that the newest iteration of the "Sons of the Pioneers" won't be including these songs in their current repertoire:
Wow. I never heard Hank sing that before. I got chills.
Thanks for the post.
I see both our memories of the Buster Brown show are intact and perfect. Do you recall the radio series Big John and Sparky? I went to a touring show of them when I was a tyke and was shocked to see Sparky was a badly done puppet.
