It is, in my opinion, fear of our nation being over-run by poor, hungry, brown people in sufficient numbers to change our basic national character, which motivates most critics of this caravan and, more broadly, illegal immigration.
I would call that a legitimate fear. If I wanted to live in Mexico or South America I would move there. I don’t want it here.
More broadly, the drugs, the diseases brought, the familiarity with and use of violence, and finally, the sex trafficking are intended to poison us like rotten apples. People used to dictators themselves become such.
