Vermont's Republican governor holds a 14-point lead over his Democratic challenger in the race with roughly two weeks to go until Election Day, according to a new poll.
A VPR-Vermont PBS poll released Monday showed 42 percent of respondents support Gov. Phil Scott (R) for another term, while 28 percent back Democrat Christine Hallquist, who earlier this year became the first transgender candidate to win a major party's nomination for governor. Hallquist is a former chief executive of the Vermont Electric Cooperative.

Scott is bolstered by a strong approval rating. The poll found 45 percent of respondents approve of Scott's job performance, while 26 percent disapprove and 28 percent did not have an opinion.
The governor has made national headlines this year for signing a number of progressive policies into law in the state. Over the course of a few weeks in May, Scott signed new restrictions on gun ownership, a gender-neutral bathroom bill, and legislation allowing the import of prescription drugs from Canada in an effort to cut costs.
Incumbents hold an advantage in every state-wide race included in the poll. Sen. Bernie Sanders
(I), Rep. Peter Welch
(D), Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman (D) and Attorney General T.J. Donovan (D) are all favored over their challengers, according to the poll.
Monday's poll surveyed 606 people from Oct. 5-14. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.

Vote for Governor Scott. He's got balls. His opponent......used to.
I'm Phil Scott, and I approve this message.

“in May, Scott signed new restrictions on gun ownership.”
You call that a victory?

The Massachusetts "Republican" Governor,Charlie Baker, has close to a 30 point lead over his Rat opponent. The problem is that the Gay State's Governor isn't a real Republican. In fact there's widespread talk these days of him announcing his switch to the Rat Party after the election.
So...is Vermont's Governor a *real* Republican...or is he just another Charlie Baker?

Vermont used to be a rock solid conservative state. They gave us Calvin Coolidge. And then the libs moved in and overcame the place.
Maybe Christine will help them to find their well-hidden rock solid roots.

A transgender woman candidate???
So it’s a biological male???
I’m sure this candidacy is being pushed as a giant step forward for “trans” rights.

Yes, so many New York people and other assorted liberal types, overwhelmed the population of a tiny state, and changed its politics.
It’s happened other places too. It’s hard to believe nowadays, that California produced Ronald Reagan.

You would think Vermont could have kept the Calvin Coolidge Coalition together since he moved away from Vermont in the 1890’s.

Back in the late 1980s, we were traveling thru northern CA and we stopped to get gas and snacks. Right behind the cash register on the wall was a large poster of Ronald Reagan. They were big fans. That was refreshing.

Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee get all the attention for yesteryear sharpshooters. People forget that Vermont provided a lion's share of marksmen as well for early America -- during the Civil War is was one of the few northern states that could provide riflemen who could match southern shooting skill.
