I’ve developed quite an admiration for Donald Trump over the last couple of years. I expect that I’ll enjoy seeing how he deals with this.
It will be more enlightening than all of the hyperventilating on this thread.

Guess what, they say anyone can come to our borders and apply for entry.
Doesn’t say they’ll be approved, but they can come and apply.
So if you are big on following the law, there it is.

Do you really even care about tackling the illegal problem in the U.S.? These people are not applying for visitor visas. These are precisely the types that will be a net drain on social services and competitors to U.S. citizens for entry-level jobs in various sectors. If the U.S. wants people of this type, then they can accept them when they apply for immigration at U.S. embassies...not gathering together in a “mongol horde” and swarming the border.

The military can operate on US soil. They did during periods of civil unrest in the 60’s, they can do it now, even more so since the passage of laws post 9/11 (Patriot Act, NDAA. It can be dicey, but it can be done. A state of emergency or a civil disturbance can do it, after all, it is an invasion.
Hey, I get it, but it is 2 weeks from a tremendously important mid-term election. Now is not the time. Stop them, and stop them definitively, but do it in such a way that you don’t give the hateful left any ammunition. Yes, it will cost more, but it will be worth it exponentially if we win the midterms.

Stopping them in an ugly way is worse than not stopping them at all. The “hateful Left” will always complain. The only difference between now and the past is that a lot more people just ignore them. I can’t imagine any law-abiding citizen will care if the government is compelled to use force to prevent entry.
