CNN) The National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday that the probable cause of a crash that killed 12 people on a church bus near Concan, Texas, in March 2017 was that the 20-year-old man whose truck hit the bus was under the influence of marijuana and a sedative.
In its report, the board says that there has been an increase in the number of drug-impaired drivers across the country and that something must be done about it.
That call to action seems to match up with a report released Thursday from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safetys Highway Loss Data Institute.

Gee, who woulda thought?
Well DUH!
One sees so many get popped with drugs in car on Live PD.
Now we will see increased rates for car insurance in those states.
All they needed was data to prove their rate hikes necessary.
I’m not at all surprised. Most politicians just love every kind of easy money from taxes & fees without thoughts of their consequences. In this csse, it’s real blood money as the very intoxicated drivers are causing more accidents and I can hear the defenders from the cannabis lobby defending it as ok & normal while citing the larger dangers of booze.
Dude, don't sedate and drive.
It was more than likely the sedative that was the problem. Although mixing pot with anything isnt a great idea if one is getting behind the wheel.
But where are the defenders of those who drive with booze AND cannabis?

Insurance should go up for TOKERS to pay the additional insurance that will be needed. NOT FOR those who abstain. You but MJ one time, you get a tick up in your insurance rate.
Two dead in our family after being t-boned by a stoner.
Its never going to be OK
I used to smoke pot (now “weed”) and drive, all the time. I don’t “remember” being impaired. /s
Hey, man, like wow! That’s heavy, dude!
Yea.....
Marijuana's fault.
“...Although mixing pot with anything isn’t a great idea if one is getting behind the wheel.”
EXACTLY! Why spoil the experience? /s (sort of)
Those numbers of Opioid OD’s are FAKE, they added in the Accidental with the Junkies inflated that, then over counted the Prescription Pills.
To get to 115 per day...40,000 died in car crashes last year, that is 109 per day. Just 6 different than the FAKE CDC numbers on OD’s. I see no call to ban Cars or Cell phones that cause a lot of the crashes. And Pedestrian accidents. And if it’s not a Cell phone they are reading receipts coming out of stores. Don’t watch backing up either or driving thru a parking lot.
Of course... Thanks, pretty boy/former Drama teacher / prime minister Justin Trudeau.
So glad my daughter just got her driver’s license. So she doesn’t smoke pot or drink alcohol at all. Basically all she does is studies. But my driver’s license has expired and she ends up doing a lot of driving and now she has to contend with this crap?
Duh.....
It’s that waiting for the stop sign to turn green that gets ‘em.
