TECUN UMAN, Guatemala — A standoff between thousands of Central American migrants trying to reach the United States and Mexican police stretched through the night with some migrants hanging from the closed border gate wailing "there are children here" while others slept on the crowded bridge linking Guatemala to Mexico.
But they were met Friday by a wall of police with riot shields on the Mexican side of the bridge. About 50 managed to push their way through before officers unleashed pepper spray and the rest retreated, joining the sea of humanity on the bridge.
Police and immigration agents began letting small groups of 10, 20 or 30 people through the gates if they wanted to apply for refugee status. Once they file a claim, they can go to a shelter to spend the night.
As night fell on the bridge, the migrants' frustration turned to despair as women clutching small children took up the rows in front of the gate pleading with the Mexican federal police. Some migrants yelled "We are hungry!" Others wailed that they had children while others set up tarps to prepare for the night sleeping on the increasingly dirty and befouled bridge.
A Mexican marine official with a loudspeaker approached the gate and told migrants they would be taken in trucks to "a humanitarian attention center" in Tapachula, a border city in the Mexican state of Chiapas. But the official did not say when this would happen.

Not a single starving person. That barefooted kid in the front has very clean feet and no walking blisters. Same with the grey pant foot and that woman in the white shirt. Nice clean healthy feet. Clean white shirts. Very full bellies.

That’s a big discussion for another time. For me, anyway.
I have a friend who believes in all sorts of chemical and biological plots against white males. I tend to think more in cultural causes. Even historical causes.
It’s a big planet, with too many people, and resources not being able to keep up with the population growth, leading to conflict in all its forms. Maybe that’s all we need to know, instead of analyzing the decline, relatively, of the white race.
Why did Jesus come when he did? When it was the right time, in God’s perfect timing. When the Greeks has ships to bring the message to all the important centers of the world so that when printing was invented, and then of course the amazing media that we have today, the message would be there. Oh if we would only listen.
I just read a long and wonderful list of all the ways to trust God, on Facebook, but then the last one was to love yourself. Huh? Where did that come from? As if we don’t do enough of that yet.

if they are hungry why were they on the bridge instead of in the water trying to catch fish to eat?
Because they don’t want to truly work and be responsible for themselves and productive, but want things handed to them, imo.
who is they? how did they get visas (legal? so many?) to hand out?
But the pictures in the dishonest press in the USA feature many women and children. No one is walking more than 50 miles a day. Where are the pictures of these people getting on and off the busses or trucks that are transporting them?
I saw three women and 1 child in that picture. The rest were all men. Fighting age and fit and furious.
You forgot “small children”, the media weapon of choice.

I voted for Donald Trump so that he and his administration would stop this constant invasion. Should have started in earnest in January, 2017.
The president and his people need to do whatever it takes, including using the Army and the Marines.
America can’t be a flop house for third world invaders making demands. Enough is enough!

In that picture there are about 4 women and 50 men. Just like the European invasion. Weird huh?
