Repelled only because the invaders didn’t want to mess with the Mexican Federales. I doubt that the Mexican camps would have been on a par with the accommodations the US stupidly provides.
The Mexicans may not stop the next invasion. We need a wall, and we’ve got to make it possible to just turn people away. No more of this jumping over the wall, breaking a leg, getting hospitalized, and released into the country for welfare or sanctuary.

When Trump threatened aid for central america I think the message was aimed at Mexico.
We also need to put several consulates in that area so they can go there to make their claims of asylum. We need to stop taking asylum seekers for processing at the border. Thousands and thousands make asylum claims and only a handful actually get approved. Make them all go to the consulates to apply and be processed, only allow those who qualify to enter this country. Take away that excuse to get into this country.
We have to understand for many years the dims have been passing laws, regulations, and winning court cases that put up roadblocks to refusing entry to illegals, and setting up loopholes in the system like asylum claims so they have an excuse to stay. All of this works like a well oiled machine to get the illegals into this country and get them mired in a legal process of some sort, like an asylum or refugee claim so they will be allowed to stay here. It is all a sham, very few will qualify to remain here and they know it. Most don’t even bother to show up for their hearings or keep up with their paperwork. Most just disappear to be arrested later for crimes or whatever.
We have to figure out a way to tear down this sham stuff, so we can refuse entry to illegals and deport those that are found here. The dims coach the illegals what to say when they get to the border so they can sham the system.
All these groups that gather to come here are organized by someone and paid...that needs to be investigated and ended too.
While the wall is fantastic, amazing, NEEDED, WANTED, GLORIOUS, I think it is a lower priority a few things, more than anything else.
1. Get rid of Birthright Citizenship ... although from the pictures I saw, the mob looked, mostly, like able bodied men. All the women in that group are dying to get on American soil, get pregnant(if they aren’t already) and pop out an American Citizen. One, whose hospital bill will be paid for by you and me. And then we’ll take care of the kid, mom & dad, and the rest of the family that will come due to, family reunification.
2. End the Refugee Resettlement Program, in it’s entirety and all the benefits that go with it(see point #1)
3. EVerify .... take away the ability to hire these 3rd world savages
4. Tax(heavily) their remittance they send back to their families.
5. Identify, Track Down and Deport ... anyone thas is overstaying their visa’s. Start with the students that came here under their, student visa’s, and work your way thru the list. A PSA stating that if you turn yourself in and go back home, you can reapply in one year. If you do not turn yourself in and are deported, then you are banned for life and no one from your family will be allowed to enter the US, for any reason.
6. Eliminate, once and for all, the H1B visa program
7. Be honest about programs like the H2B visa program and accept the fact that we need to import some workers(that’s a fact). However, each worker is the responsibility of the sponsoring company. All of the previous points apply, except #4, as they will be have the applicable taxes taken out of their checks. No pregnant women, if so, the sponsoring company picks up the tab at the hospital and woman & child are immediately sent back to home of record, asap.
Take away the financial incentive to coming to the USA and that 4000 person mob vanishes, overnight, as will all the asylum requests, etc. However, if a Christian from the Middle East needs a place to stay, then they can have one. They ain’t the ones waging jihad or blowing themselves up.
