Incumbent Republican leads Malinowski by 3 points in AARP poll

Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Clinton) has a 38%-35% lead over Democrat Tom Malinowski among voters over 50 years of age in his close first election since winning the seat in 2008, according to a poll conducted by the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP).

Green party candidate Diane Moxley had the support of 1% of the respondents. Freedom, Responsibility, Action candidate Gregg Mele was backed by 2% of the same.

In New Jersey, voters tend to skew Republican as they get older. The opposite is true of young voters, who tend to cast ballots for Democrats.

This is good news for Malinowski, a former Assistant U.S. Secretary of State who is seeking to become the first Democrat to capture this House seat since 1954.

At 43%-46%, President Donald Trump had a slightly upside-down approval rating in the district. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the district 49%-47.5%.

More than half of the voters polled disapproved of how Republicans were doing in Congress – 55% said they disapproved while only 27% approved.

Though those numbers aren’t great, they still beat out elderly voters’ opinions on Democrats. The approval rating of Malinowski’s party was deep underwater, 22%-58%.

The poll was conducted by Alan Newman Research. It has a sample size of 606, 31% of whom were contacted on their cell phones while 68% were reached on landlines. Respondents were screened to make sure they were 50 or older and registered to vote. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

No this is 2006 revisited. Dems are simply LYING to voters to conceal who they REALLY are.

They ran as GOP lite in 2006 and went to Dc and did exactly what the Dem party bosses told them to do.

Dems lie no stop on the campaign trail pretending to be something they are not only to be good little Schumer or Peloise voting bots when they get to DC

US Voters have GOT to stop being this naive. What the Dem Candidates tell you on the campaign trailer is irrelevant. What you are voting for is who control Congress.

Either the D or the Rs control Congress. When the Ds do, NO MATTER what your good ol’ boy Dem told you asking for your vote, is the radical extremist National Dem political agenda will be advanced

He may be a squish, but he’s OUR squish.

In a choice between Lance and Malinowski, it has to be Lance, all the way.

Lance voted against Obamacare and ARRA, back in 2010. He can be influenced. Malinowski, on the other hand, was mixed up in the horrible Give-Money-and-Nukes-to-Iran Deal.

NJ-7 will never elect a fire-breather. Lance is the best we can get, and he is miles better than any Democrat.

So git off your butt and go vote!!!

And of course, the local morons don’t blame the NJ State Government run by the libs that have imposed those huge STATE AND LOCAL taxes. Oh no, somehow its the GOP’s fault. Somehow. Because unicorns or something.

His presence would help keep the committee and Speaker’s gavels out of Democrat hands.

he hasn’t given any reason for anyone to vote for him

A good reason is to keep the committee gavels and the Speaker's gavel out of Democrat hands. Imagine not only Speaker Pelosi, but Chairman Maxine Waters of the Financial Services Committee, Chairman Jarrold Nadler of the Judiciary Committee, etc.
