...and why the HELL can’t somebody put a stop to it? They are spending OUR money to pay the enemy to teach the next generation destroy us. Very little makes me as angry as our tax dollars paying for this crap.

Merit Review Facts

1. All proposals submitted to NSF are reviewed according to the two merit review criteria: Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts
2. NSF implemented revised merit review criteria in January 2013 [Guess who was POTUS then!]
3. NSF Program Officers make recommendations to fund or decline a proposal
4. Most proposals that are awarded do not receive all "Excellents" [Do ANY receive a "This is pure crap" rating?]
5. NSF Program Officers are encouraged to recommend high risk science and engineering projects for funding [Yeah, right]
6. Principal Investigators submit on average about 2.3 proposals for every award they receive
7. NSF promotes broadening participation in science and engineering
8. NSF annually has active awards at over 2,000 awardee organizations

Great question. This type of spending shouldn’t be allowed even in a nation that is running a surplus. But the USA is a debtor nation. That makes it even worse.

Trump has been in office for almost two years now. I understand the difficulties when dealing with the Deep State. But sooner or later Trump is going to have to own this. It might not be fair, but the buck really does stop in the Oval Office.

The NSF "Merit Review" page has a "CONTACT US" section at the bottom that reads...

So I called the phone number to complain. I got a voicemail recording: "You've reached the Policy Office of the NSF. In order to better serve you, send your questions to policy@nsf.gov." Then you can leave a recorded message. You cannot reach a human being at "Contact Us." They obviously do not want to hear from people upset about this garbage.
