Hmmm. I’m pretty sure a vegetarian diet will cause more flatulence. If cow farts are bad what will 7 billion human farts do? But just in case, I’ll drink another round of whole grains...
Ya. Here is my analysis.
The products are cheap and designed to put more money in the pockets of the manufacturers. I looked at a circuit board once and it was dirt cheap. They cut so many design corners that the board was “no longer square and completely round.”
Apparently the Samsung washer tubs were rusting after a couple of uses. Come on Samsung. Your engineering team is a bunch of boobs!
Gone are the days of a simple mechanical switch that worked forever. Replaced with a circuit board that continually draws power. So much for energy efficient.
Our washer was 26 years old and we just had it repaired. The repairman said that it will last us another 26 years. Our fridge is from ‘93 and is 25 years old, our dryer, again from ‘93, 25 years old. Repairing the fridge might not be so easy since it is pre-CFC.
When we moved into our newer house, it had a brand new GE dishwasher that blew up on us after 4 years. We then replaced it with a Maytag, and it died after 5 years. We replaced it with a Bosh (German brand) and so far, 8 years, it is working fine.
Knocking on wood!!!
Hey Manufacturers — give us a quality product first and then all of the bells and whistles. Who wants wifi on their washer? Not me when the damn thing doesn’t last longer than a couple of years.
I dunno - eating veggies causes me to make a lot of gas. Is suffering Global Warming preferable to smelling a lot of other people’s farts? /s
The problem is most people do not buy their appliances from a local dealer that actually repairs them. These guys know which ones have problems and which do not. He was the one that told me the #1 repair problem with fridges was ice makers.
He said to never buy any Samsung, LG or Fridgidaire products.
Amana, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Whirpool are all the same company now. They are all buit in the same factory with different name plates To my knowledge, they are the only ones still made in USA. GE are all made in Mexico. Bosch are good quality but I was told their dishwashers are harder to repair by my local dealer. He stated you have to pull a unit out just to work on them. With the other brands you take off the panel under the door and replace the part.
My father once told me the more features(bells and whistles)the more things to go wrong. This goes with any manufactured product.
“My father once told me the more features(bells and whistles)the more things to go wrong. This goes with any manufactured product.”
That is very wise of your father. :)
Actually, the only US brand that is supposed to be good is Speed Queen. But that depends on which year. I have not tested this theory yet.
As for Bosh... might be difficult to repair, but if you never have to repair it than it will never be an issue.
Also, the Bosh is designed like a Panzer tank — few bells and whistle but reliable. Instead of a grinder at the bottom, it has a filter that has to be cleaned every week. My wife hates that but accepts it because it hasn’t broken down on us yet. Cross my fingers.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, the climate “scientists” heads are spinning - just two weeks ago the local weather girls were gushing about the latest date in the year ever we had a day with a high in the eighties - in early October - and how this was a “local consequence” of global warming - now they’re all clucking about tomorrow night when we’re expecting a coating of frost in and around Philly, one of the earliest dates in the year ever for frost in this area - what’s a warmist to think.....
People can't produce carbon. I wish I could. I would burn it to heat the house.
Carbon isn’t created or destroyed. It’s converted, and it’s kinda handy to have around.
Journalists.
My Dodge Ram pickup gets just as good of mpg as my old 1966 Mustang and it weighs twice as much. It also has a bunch more horsepower than my old 289 in the Mustang. These new computer controlled engines are marvels of engineering.
Back in the sixties I could tear those old engines apart and fix them and put them back together. Today I have no idea what to do with these new wonderful engines. I just take it to the shop and say “fix it.” Oddly these new engines are so incredibly good I rarely need to bring it to the shop. They are truly engineering marvels. But I must admit I still love the old 289.
There is one for tornados. They are callled thunderstorms.
Screw #8.
Before the Rinos banned the 100 watt incandescent bulb I bought cases of them.
A better and much cheaper way to combat “global warming” would be to stop all research grants in climate and start yanking advanced degrees from ‘researchers’ that publish lies as ‘science’.
I have multiple Bosch power tools. They make the absolutely best hand held jig saw made. I have friends who also have their appliances and love them like you.
My only point about appliances was that I was also trying to buy American which, as you know, is increasingly difficult. For example, try buying a faucet actually made in the USA. Delta is the only one to my knowledge. I have replaced all of the bath and Kitchen faucets in my 1972 home. I have has very good luck with Grohe. The are made in Germany. All other brands seem to be made in China or Mexico.
Plus, the “American made” manufacturers knowingly cut corners to make more money. And heck, if the consumer has to buy a $1000 appliance every 5 years, that's just fine with them — they sell more appliances that way. Planned obsolescence.
It bothers me too that they wave the American flag with one hand while they are picking your pocket with the other. And that stupid Maytag advertisement? I growl every time I see it.
