Elizabeth Warren Is Not Native American
Huff Post ^ | 10/16 | Julian Brave

Massachusetts senator (and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful) Elizabeth Warren is not Native American.

Native American identity is about belonging to a community. It is a specific political, legal and social formation akin to a form of citizenship that is particular to each tribe, nation, confederacy or otherwise sovereign and self-determining Indigenous government—numbering 567 federally recognized tribes and hundreds of Alaska Native, Hawaiian and state-recognized entities across the country.

It is also racial. Not in the biological sense, but in a more ephemeral cultural and social understanding of that word—an identity lived by Native Americans across tribal affiliations and policed by the shifting structures of discrimination, opportunity and the many mundane and extraordinary life experiences in between.

Warren cannot, does not and should not claim Native American identity in its tribal or racial form. She, like many people on a continent taken from First Peoples, can claim Native American ancestry

Settlers never took land from earlier natives. Land was either unclaimed or purchased if claimed. Native Americans had clear borders between tribes. My ancestors settled on land unclaimed by any indigenous people. It was, and remains to this day, mosquito infested swamp land far up on a tributary of the Chesapeake bay. The area was called “World’s End” and remains so today.

Not exactly breaking news, but look at the source!

Even liberals are starting to see Crazy Lizzie as an embarrassment. That's unfortunate in a way, I was hoping that Warren would be the 2020 Democrat nominee for President, so that we could get a landslide on the scale of 1984 Reagan vs. Mondale.

There is a flaming liberal on WEEI sports radio from Boston that was even trashing her this morning.

She is toast :( as a presidential candidate. She just has not gotten the memo yet.

The Indians were not peaceful. There were cannibalism that tribes were using on each other, wars and slavery...

Taken?

Well, we did take it from them. A couple of things to note though. Are there many cases in history where technologically-advanced people encounter primitive people living on desirable land, where the primitives don’t lose?

And then there’s economics. 100 acres of land could support a lot more Europeans than the same 100 acres could support Indians. Once this was realized, the Indians started getting driven back to the west. This kept on until there was no place left for them to go. The Great Plains were thought to be The Great Desert and the Indians there were pretty much left alone for decades and then dry farming began and the Indians were driven from the Plains. Certainly not fair, but really the Indians were doomed when Columbus first saw his first island in the Caribbean.

“I still say Potus should stop referring to her as Pocahontas. It’s insulting to Pocahontas.”

He would be better off using the words of the left — “cultural appropriation”. Use the left’s own meme’s against them.

She is not even Mexican or Central American which is what her DNA was compared to. The company didn’t have a sample of DNA from a Native American to use.

They are praising her with faint damns. Quote from the article:

“Ancestry only means that a long time ago (in Warren’s case, six to 10 generations, or likely well over 100 years) an ancestor in the nether reaches of the Warren family tree was Indigenous to North or South America.”

I’m younger than Warren. Six generations ago in my family tree is 260 to 300 years in the past. To say well over 100 years is implying that it could have been in the Frontier West, when in reality the Warren ancestor in question could only have been either in the Original Colonies or back in Europe.
