The concerted efforts now underway to derail the improved relations between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia established by the Trump administration are unhelpful at best and dangerous to Americas national and economic security at worst.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is a reformer trying to modernize his country. The steps he has taken so far are unprecedented. Letting that progress fall victim to mistakes by his government and attacks from opponents would be a massive mistake.
The death of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi a critic of the Saudi government, who has not been heard from since he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago was a tragedy. If the facts show the government of Saudi Arabia was responsible for his death it should be held accountable.
But the death of Khashoggi does not outweigh U.S. strategic concerns, which require that we maintain good relations with the Saudi government. We must react accordingly not as a favor to the Saudis, but in our own national interest.
In the Middle East we must keep our eyes on the biggest threat in the region the dangerous and virulently anti-American government of Iran, which poses a military danger to its neighbors and our ally Israel.

“Iran is our real enemy and Saudi also wants to contain Iran.”
9/11, ISIS, Boston, Fort Hood, the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, the pulse, Las Vegas, Okc grandma beheading, Bataclan theater, Nice France truck attack, Charlie Hebdo, UK concert bombing, New York truck attack, Berlin Truck attack, countless vehicle attacks in London, Beslan, the Canadian attacks, the British soldier beheaded in London, the London stabbing wave, San Bernadino, USS Cole bombing... 9/11! 9/11! 9/11!
The list of Saudi paid and Sunni inspired terrorism is simply endless. Iran is dirty and a menace, but Saudi Arabia is a FAR worse threat.
SA fosters hatred towards us. F them. Tired of them. They murdered 3000 Americans.
To hell with SA.
He was a WaPo urinalyst, does anyone mourn from one of those? Like a lawyer being wasted...............

How do you know the U.S. or Great Britain or Israel is't doing that to someone in an embassy somewhere right this very minute?
The only reason this is getting traction is the fact that the victim was a journalist. I mean, do you really think the WPost would give a rat's ass if it was that pastor who got chop chopped?
The dillholes at the post and every other communist media organ are delirious: the bonus is they have a club to smack President Trump with.
The basic premise of Saudi Arabia is that both natives and other “muslim brothers” who come from other nations sign away their human rights at either the point of legal emancipation from one’s parents or when entering the country in exchange for what the Royal Family promises is a middle class existence (by Middle East standards) with no real hope of leaving if things ever go south or the standard of living isn’t what the mullahs promised you in exchange for working in a refinery, oil field or the service industry catering to tourists and oil industry. Think about that for a moment. And NOTHING in the “reform” comes even close to changing that. Why, in God’s name, would we ever consider these barbarians “allies?”

We don’t know. But that don’t make it right. Slap him in cuffs and send him to prison if he fomenting terror (he was). Combat and law enforcement acts resulting in death are one thing. But government has no right to commit outright murder.
Governments have done it 120 million times+ in the last 100 years or so. Not in war, but in outright extrajudicial murder. That crap really needs to stop. We can’t stop other countries that do it. But we shouldn’t run cover for them.
How exactly are we running cover for them?
How many of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi?
*
Making excuses for them and their depredations on America and on their own citizens. Pretending they are reformers. Treating them as a respectable nation instead of with the contempt they have earned.
They are North Korea, with money.
“What matters more by far, is to CRUSH the evil, America hating mfckers in Iran”
The Kingdom thanks you.
No. Thanks to shale oil, the US is now the top producer of oil on the planet. This is not about Saudi oil. Its about our strongest ally in the Middle East outside of Israel for over 50 years and through two Gulf Wars, and the necessity of taking down the evil Iranian regime, and how vital Saudi help is needed in that endeavor.
Ummm..no. Saudi citizens carrying out a crime in America or elsewhere, is not equal to Saudi government carrying out a crime. You seem to forget that these same groups have carried out terrorist attacks inside Saudi Arabia and against the Saudi government.
Mohammadanism is our enemy. Until that is eradicated, nothing good will ever come from these countries.
15 of 19, apparently. Who’s going to protect us from the Saudis ?
What did that get us.
Amen. The Saudis should have been nuked the day after 9/11.
The guys not even an American. What do we care if the Saudis killed?
