The general manager of a Saudi-state-owned media company published an op-ed Sunday suggesting that if the U.S. imposes sanctions in response to the disappearance of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, the situation will get so dire that Saudi Arabia would allow Russia to install a military base in the nation.

Neocons and democrats will do anything to get a war with Russia. So they are happy to hear this.

Okay then, we can just take back all of our Oil wells that we built in SA starting in 1938.

There are points to this argument. The Saudis are not friends but strategic. Russia is leading Iran snd would love to see a split between the Saudis and the US. Saudis are what they are but certainly bettet than Russians by any measure.

This is a ridiculous situation, when you consider that disrupting the US/Saudi alliance (of convenience, it is true) benefits those publicizing it—Turkey and liberals for a start, but also Russia and Iran.

Exactly how many articles did Kashogi write for the WaPo? He’s not listed under columnists at the WaPo site.

The GOP leadership is psychotic.

Why are we trying to destabilize Saudi Arabia?

Why are we trying to drive Saudi Arabia into alliances with China and Russia?

Because the Saudis murdered some fake “journalist” who belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood?

That's geopolitical psychosis.

As to oil priced in yuan, so what?

Every year since the first OPEC oil embargo in 1974, someone is threatening to re-price oil in some new currency.

Since it has never happened, I'm not impressed.

And if it does happen, so what?

As it stands now, when the value of the US Dollar falls, oil prices increase for Americans. When the Dollar strengthens, oil prices drop for Americans.

Different currency - Same economic reality.

Cool, let the rooskies go and play. They’re broke as it is.
If we were to pull out of KSA they would be over run within two years, perto dollar or no petro dollar. They can barely keep a foot hold in Yemen for pete’s sake.

Pompeo should then threaten a national debate on Islam to expose its doctrines to set up a constitutional amendment that would remove religious protections.

A Russian base on your territory means that you’re Russian territory. If the Saudis want to prematurely overthrow themselves, so be it.

F-em. This isn’t Jimmy Carters world.

I guess the aid is gone as well.

The USA does not need SA for a damn thing.
