Elizabeth Warren releases results of DNA test

Senator Elizabeth Warren has released a DNA test that provides “strong evidence’’ she had a Native American in her family tree dating back 6 to 10 generations, an unprecedented move by one of the top possible contenders for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president.

Warren, whose claims to Native American blood have been mocked by President Trump and other Republicans, provided the test results to the Globe on Sunday in an effort to defuse questions about her ancestry that have persisted for years. She planned an elaborate rollout Monday of the results as she aimed for widespread attention.

The analysis of Warren’s DNA was done by Carlos D. Bustamante, a Stanford University professor and expert in the field who won a 2010 MacArthur fellowship, also known as a genius grant, for his work on tracking population migration via DNA analysis.

He concluded that “the vast majority” of Warren’s ancestry is European, but he added that “the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor.”

Bustamante calculated that Warren’s pure Native American ancestor appears in her family tree “in the range of 6-10 generations ago.” That timing fits Warren’s family lore, passed down during her Oklahoma upbringing, that her great-great-great-grandmother, O.C. Sarah Smith, was at least partially Native American.

Just heard ABC top-of-the-hour news broadcast, and it announced that Trump is wrong, and that Warren is right — DNA tests prove she has Indian blood.

But, according to the DNA tests, her Indian blood originated before here ancestors ever came to North America.

1/1024 is about 0.1%. On any genealogy DNA site, you ignore that as meaningless noise...which fits the words coming out of her mouth.

“Why this unusual method and not the method used by everyone else, unless the intent is fraud?”

Obviously so that if nothing turned up, nobody would blab the results. If she went to ancestry DNA or 23andMe, chances are that someone there would have leaked the information out. Just more evidence that this woman is a complete fraud. What I would love to see is proof of whether she claimed Native American ancestry in applying for a position as a professor, or for anything else. Evidence that she did would immediately destroy any slim hopes that she has of being anything more significant than a big mouth, ineffective senator from Massachusetts.

Michelle Pfeiffer has high cheekbones too. Somehow, I doubt that she has any Native American blood. If she did, however, I’ll bet you should that she could either prove it now, or pay a researcher to prove it without too terribly much difficulty. Unlike senator white squall with forked tongue.

.
Any family that has been in the US since the 17th century can easily come up with an “Indian” ancestor.

I’m as lily white as anyone, but on my father’s side I only have to look back 5 generations to find a full-blooded American Indian ancestor.

Exactly! Elizabeth Warren just kicked-off what may be the inevitable (and welcome) destruction of Affirmative Action. The left has chipped away at standardized testing, but they rolled out Affirmative Action without instituting any objective way to test whether people are whatever race or ethnicity they claim to be...and science now has a way (supposedly) to test race and ethnicity. I know a person of mixed race — White (European) and Chinese — who looks Native American and checked “Native American” on her (undergrad) MIT college application...and got in. She was a strong applicant, but not a sure thing by any means. She was not registered with any tribe, nor did she claim to be, and offered no “proof” that she was Native American other than checking that box. (Again, she did “look” very much what you'd think a Native American girl would look like...despite being European/Chinese.)

Can you imagine what is going to happen when 16- and 17- year-olds start sends their own — or other peoples’?! — DNA off to 23andME and get back pie charts with “proof” that they are gypsies?!

We all know liberals lie and cheat... let's have her send off an anonymous sample to a lab of Trump's choice... if it comes back she's part Indian, Trump can pay up.
