Senator Elizabeth Warren has released a DNA test that provides strong evidence she had a Native American in her family tree dating back 6 to 10 generations, an unprecedented move by one of the top possible contenders for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president.
Warren, whose claims to Native American blood have been mocked by President Trump and other Republicans, provided the test results to the Globe on Sunday in an effort to defuse questions about her ancestry that have persisted for years. She planned an elaborate rollout Monday of the results as she aimed for widespread attention.
The analysis of Warrens DNA was done by Carlos D. Bustamante, a Stanford University professor and expert in the field who won a 2010 MacArthur fellowship, also known as a genius grant, for his work on tracking population migration via DNA analysis.
He concluded that the vast majority of Warrens ancestry is European, but he added that the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor.
Bustamante calculated that Warrens pure Native American ancestor appears in her family tree in the range of 6-10 generations ago. That timing fits Warrens family lore, passed down during her Oklahoma upbringing, that her great-great-great-grandmother, O.C. Sarah Smith, was at least partially Native American.

6-10 generations are 200-300+ years ago. That MIGHT mean that one of her 64 5x great-grandparents was an Indian, or it could mean that one of her 1024 9x great-grandparents was an Indian. That is hardly enough to get her grandfather high cheekbones or require her grandparents to run away to get married out of shame of being part Indian.
I am 1/32nd native American, but I’m just an American!
Since they didn’t have shotguns then, it was a bow and arrow wedding.
Right. I wonder how many different companies she went to and how many “tests” she took until she found one willing to say she might be .001% Native American.
My grandmother and great uncle were half Sioux. He strongly identified with his Sioux heritage his entire life. His wedding picture shows him sitting on a horse in full Sioux garb while his bride stood next to him.
Yet my grandmother did not appreciate her association and moved as far from North Dakota as she could as soon as she was old enough. She came West with my “Aunt Lillian” who was actually her best friend from the small farming community that they had lived in. My grandmother was a striking woman who looked very much like Joan Crawford only with jet black hair and olive skin. She never mentioned anything about her heritage to my mother or her sister and brother. It was part of her past that she wanted to leave behind.
We probably would not have known about it at all if it were not for Lillian who told the story to us years after my grandmother died when my brother and sisters and I were already in our 40s. We had no idea, and my mother had no idea either. My Great Uncle Gilbert had died when we were children. We all just thought because of what my grandmother told us that Gilbert was some kind of eccentric for living his entire life with Indians.
IOW, the “report” was generated in her favor by another academic, and can be and should be dismissed by any thinking person.

Ya....and there’s no question Adam is somewhere in my lineage.
And who exactly is Carlos D. Bustamante?
“Adam is somewhere in my lineage”
I know right? could she be any vaguerererer?
Im 38% Yaqui Indian and 28% Iberian (Spanish)typical for Mexican immigrants from the state if Chihuahua. I have never done anything to bring special attention to my ancestry in school and at work.
When I was a college student in the 70s at AZ State, the only scholarships available for me was the Regents academic scholarship. I graduated in the top 5 percent of my high school class so I got free tuition. But I had to keep my GPA above 3.5 every semester or I would lose my scholarship permanently. I kept my scholarship, graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Gray Beaver: 0.098% native american. What a joke!!! Ill bet if we had Hitlers and Stalins DNA, they would have a higher percentage of native american DNA. SNORT.
He concluded that the vast majority of Warrens ancestry is European, but he added that the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor.
Sorry. I trust this "expert" professor's results as much as I trust all the expert climate scientists, and university professors who claim their "results strongly support the existence of" manmade global warming.
This actually leaves more open the real soft spot here. She has consistently denied that she ever received a benefit on the basis of being native American, but her resume demonstrates this is plainly not true. There isn’t any other way that a Rutgers Law grad ends up on the Harvard Law faculty.

NARRATIVE BUSTER: According to a comprehensive DNA study by the Genetic Literacy Project, an average White person in America has 0.18 percent Native American DNA. This means Sen. Warren has statistically *less* Indian DNA than the avg. white American Humiliating self-own here
Eastern Cherokee do not show. I have .2% according to 23 and me. 0% according to Ancestry. Plug me into GedMatch and I do show NE along with middle eastern which is what some think the Cherokee actually are, native tribes like Creek and others mixing with Eastern Med. settlers.
I’m .5% African, but I doubt people would look at this white girl and say she deserves reparations.
Warren told the story of her parents having to elope because of racial prejudice. She is a fraud and a Fauxcahontas. The media needs to hold her to account, but of course, they are only trumpeting the lie. That’s all they are now. Lying news. Shame.
I knkw it is a common lighthearted joke, but PLENTY of white men CAN jump! That’s a media fabrication.
WOR ABC NEWS radio says this is STRONG proof and Trump is wrong.
lol.
Let's split the difference > 3/100 vs 1/1,024
What an utterly empty, pathetic creature she must be.
And where's my Neanderthalensis check, ehh ? !
What a pathetic cretin Warren is.
i think that works out to 1/(2 raised to the 10 power) which is equal to .09765625% injun ...
