If the US is to treat with the Saudis, or Russia, it is highly relevant to that relationship if they are disappearing journalists or poisoning defectors. I wouldn’t dismiss the story out of hand, or accept it at face value. Since the source is an Al Qaeda-connected one, it’s entirely possible that AlQaeda or some other MB franchise did it in order to erect a false flag and thereby throw a wrench into the US-KSA relationship.
