You do realize there were slave states in the north don’t you!! You do realize Lincoln did nothing to free those slaves. You do realize Grant owned a slave and did not free him till after the war!!! You do realize Lincolns first choice was Lee!! So his first choice was a slaveholder and his final choice was a slaveholder!!!
Oh please, not that crap again. Moral relativism never works.
Two correct out of four. Not too bad considering.
Grant freed the only slave he owned in 1858. The slaves that served his wife Julia, were the property of her father. These slaves were freed when Missouri outlawed slaver in Jan 1865. Lee may have never owned a slave. The slaves he managed at the Arlington estate were property of the GWP Custis, his wife’s father. Custis died in 1857. In his will he named Lee the executor of his estate. One of the will’s provision that the slaves were to be freed when the debts and legacies eof the estate were paid in full, but no later than 5 years after Custis’ death. Lee freed the last of the Custis slaves in Nov 1862.
Except pass the 13th amendment -- I'd call that a lot more than "nothing".

Grant was given one slave in 1857.
He freed that slave in early 1858.

The commanding general of the US Army, Gen. Winfield Scott's first choice was his fellow Virginian, Lee.

Some people claim that Lee himself didn't own slaves, they were his wife's.
Grant's wife also owned slaves, though she said not after Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and her husband's appointment as Union Army commander.
