GERMAN Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen says the structures for a European Defence Union have been “activated”, and also hopes to develop a system that tells Europeans when to use their “forces”.

The concept of a “European Union Army” would sound scary, except when one remembers that it would be made up of Europeans.
Merkel and Putin are allied and pipelined up via natural gas. It’s Poland and countries that genuinely view Russia as a threat that rely on NATO most and pay up.
Trump should ask when they are ready so we can close the US bases in Germany. The impact on their economy would be huge.
With one General and one Private holding a squirtgun, how “ACTIVATED” can they be?
The EU getting its army before Britain has actually left is bad enough. But look for collective security to come with more requirements to take Muslim “refugees” too.
On the bright side, good for them: let’s not waste another dime defending Europe. Demobilize all our assets and bring them home. Let the Euroweenies foot the bill since they want to. They may have to give up some socialism.

The main partner (Germany) in this “European Defense Union” is so unprepared and unequipped that its soldiers paint broomsticks black to resemble rifles for exercises, for lack of proper equipment. Not even kidding on this.
Hitler would cry at the sight of this pathetic Fourth Reich.
Kind of like the Central Powers of WWI, except now the Turks aren’t over in their own territory... they’re more evenly distributed throughout.
The one positive here....as long as you warn the Germans six weeks ahead of time, they can arrange for 60-percent of their tanks, aircraft, helicopters, subs and patrol boats to be operational.
If I were the bulk of European countries and relying upon the Germans, I’d go ahead and prepare a surrender document ahead of time.

I wonder if it will be better equipped than the German army was back in 2014. Because back then some of their rapid-response armored units mounted broomsticks in place of machine guns.
