MSNBC’s Chris Matthews says Democrats won’t listen to him anymore because he’s too old
The Daily Caller ^ | October 11, 2018

MSNBC host Chris Matthews had advice for the Democratic Party on “Morning Joe” Thursday, but said Democrats no longer listen to him, because he’s too old.

Matthews was discussing voter demographics for the upcoming November midterms and claimed suburbia will vote against President Donald Trump’s agenda at the polls. (RELATED: MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Refers To Trump As An ‘Eight Year Old’ Spewing ‘Psychobabble’)

“It is the people in the suburbs that read the paper, that keep up. They watch this show in the morning on the way to work. They know what’s going on and they’re going to vote against Trump,” Matthews declared. “They don’t like him. They don’t like his style … He’s the bully in the schoolyard. They don’t like him.”

Matthew predicted suburban voters will get out to vote and deliver a win for Democrats across the board.

“Out west, in the red areas of the country it’s different. I think they’re more patriarchal out there,” he continued. “They don’t mind guys like Trump as much as the suburban people. Suburban people went to the suburbs to get away from this kind of violent behavior. They don’t like people pushing people around … My answer is, there’s going to be a big clean win for the Democrats like they thought they were going to get in ’16.”

Matthews advised Democrats to focus on the issues of Social Security and Medicare, but said they probably won’t take his advice because he’s from “yesterday.”...

Did Chris have a thrill run up his leg when he told this story, too?

But the majority of the country listens to our older president.

Must not be an age issue...

I think he is right about suburbia though. I don’t think he really knows the right reasons why. The “bully” tag is hyperbolic, but I have seen it first hand. The suburbanites are a weak minded sort. They lack the street smarts and cynicism of city dwellers and they lack the common sense and fierce self reliance of the rural folk. They think trump isn’t presidential and they don’t just dislike him, they loathe him.

I think the media is still ‘misunderestimating’ parts of the electorate, but I do think that the weak-kneed feel-good naive suburbanites were caught off guard in 2016 and aren’t going to make that mistake in 2018. I’m not predicting a blue wave, but I am suggesting that the pollsters and the media ON BOTH SIDES do not have their finger on the pulse of various demographics as well as they would present it.

I don’t listen him because he’s too stupid.

Stupidity is a plus for liberal viewers.

L = S x (1-T)

where L = likelihood of liberals to watch a given program

and S = stupidity of broadcaster (high number being more stupid)

and T = truthfulness of "news" item (1 being true, 0 being lie)

I’ll never forget the time Chris Matthews subbed for Rush.

Yes, I remember that, too. Seems weird looking back at it now. But at the time, Matthews was considered to be at least somewhat conservative-leaning. The things that came out of his mouth were a bit more circumspect and balanced. He had Rush fooled for awhile.

Excellent points. In the suburbs of the Twin Cities, I am seeing exactly what you’re talking about.

Suburban voters need to realize that a vote for Democrats is a vote to bring back the Obama plan to have HUD force Section 8 projects into all of their neighborhoods.
