I think he is right about suburbia though. I don’t think he really knows the right reasons why. The “bully” tag is hyperbolic, but I have seen it first hand. The suburbanites are a weak minded sort. They lack the street smarts and cynicism of city dwellers and they lack the common sense and fierce self reliance of the rural folk. They think trump isn’t presidential and they don’t just dislike him, they loathe him.

I think the media is still ‘misunderestimating’ parts of the electorate, but I do think that the weak-kneed feel-good naive suburbanites were caught off guard in 2016 and aren’t going to make that mistake in 2018. I’m not predicting a blue wave, but I am suggesting that the pollsters and the media ON BOTH SIDES do not have their finger on the pulse of various demographics as well as they would present it.

Excellent points. In the suburbs of the Twin Cities, I am seeing exactly what you’re talking about.

agree that some suburban republican women slip away. but I also think that even more democrat men will sit on their hands or shift away from the democrats.

imho that kavenaugh thing did a lot of damage to democrat support—especially among democrat white men and white college boys.
