Another Man Who Worked At NPR Had Been Accused of Serial Sexual Harassment (Juan Williams)

(snip)-- The same radio network that suspended its news director this week for sexual harassment allegations once hired a controversial Washington Post writer whose history of sexual harassment allegations was well known.

Juan Williams, 63, joined National Public Radio in 2000 despite being at the center of a widely reported sexual harassment scandal at The Washington Post a decade earlier.

Williams now works for Fox News as an analyst.

Post newsroom employees said that Williams had, for years, commented on their bodies, asked them about their sex lives, and said things that were "lewd" and "shocking." Nancy McKeon, then the features editor of the Post Magazine, told Newsweek she remembers Williams asking women, “Did your heels hit the ceiling last night?” and saying, “Now there’s a chair I’d like to sniff” when one employee stood up from her seat.

The comments were known and were even covered by the Washington Post at the time. But NPR hired Williams anyway.

“This is ancient,” Williams said when Newsweek reached out to him. When asked if the allegations were true, he declined to answer.

(snip) --- Williams was not fired by The Post when the allegations were revealed in 1991. Fifty female employees met with then-Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. to object to the newspaper’s lack of transparency surrounding what disciplinary measures it had taken. Yet Williams was eventually hired by NPR.

*** 'He was like a serial shocker' ***

McKeon, who worked with Williams in the late 1980s, warned him several times during her tenure to “stop talking to these young girls like that" and that he'd "have a problem" if he continued. After one art director stood up from her chair, McKeon said she remembers Williams saying, “Now there’s a chair I’d like to sniff.”

From the link (thank you):

The Post disclosed the internal inquiry involving Williams, 37, in an editor's note and news story Oct. 15.

The disclosure came five days after a Williams column on The Post's op-ed page in which he said that Anita Hill had "no credible evidence" for her allegations of sexual harassment by Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, but that Hill was "prompted" to make her charges by Democratic Senate staffers. The Post's personnel inquiry had begun more than two weeks earlier, but the column angered many women in the newsroom, and several came forward to say that they had also had problems with Williams. Post editors say they decided to make a public statement after WRC-TV aired a report on the controversy.

Well, he does occasionally get something right, and that was a major something this time around. No wonder they decided to announce his behavior to the world, when it would otherwise have been kept in-house.

"Juan was famously fired by NPR and there was a cry outcry over the racism of firing an opinionated African-American. Fox News swooped in and hired Juan to much virtue signaling. Back then, it was all about skin color and not about being a lech."

_____________

Now that's interesting. I vaguely remember all that.

But now........ given his daily fraudulently sanctimonious assault on Kavanaugh with respect to Christine Ford, I think the dirty hypocrite needs to go.

He is a dirt bag for many reasons. (jmo)

Juan stepped off the Dem Plantation, Hell To Pay. Funny how that works. Just curious, does he still engage in such said activities? Any squawks from Fox ?

"Well, Juan, I guess the rule applies. Believe Women. And if you deny, you don’t have the temperament to be a journalist."

"the temperament to be a journalist" -- I don't know about that but he has no right to pontificate on sexual harassment or so-called attempted rape on any media outlet!

He's a twisted, conflicted little man.

*fired by NPR*

He cried all day when he was fired. .. whined and complained... He wanted sympathy and I didn’t want to see him on anything. Then when fox hired him “a million dollar offer”, he became the ‘accuser’ and obama’s defender/worshiper. He could turn any sentence around to his liking or his attack angle.. and lie like a pro. I wished him off Fox for a long time. He was smug and thought he was the only one who knew anything.

"Doesn’t his son work in the Trump administration?"

____________

This is all I found:

"WASHINGTON – After the 2012 election, the Republican National Committee vowed to do better in the next presidential election with younger voters and minorities.

Its leaders dedicated millions of dollars to begin working in minority communities that had not seen a Republican representative in years. And they hired several new minority staffers.

One of the RNC’s hires was Raffi Williams, the youngest son of veteran Washington journalist and pundit Juan Williams.

Agreed. I used to watch The Five once in a while. When I tuned in a week or so ago Juan Williams made me turn it back off; it is unwatchable with his screaming Lefty rants. Gutfeld was the only one making any sense on the show (and that should tell you something....)

Toss his creepy a#s under the next passing bus please.

_____________

He's probably too afraid to do anything anymore. He will just make foolish lefty apologies, make silly childish faces from that pock-marked lying face.

It's so bizarrely easy to see through his "Mr. Nice Guy" act...... grinning and making BIG EYED expressions of astonishment at others' remarks.

He's an old fraud now with most likely lingering desires.

He's older ....... maybe he no longer "lusts in his Panamanian heart".

Yes, he makes that show unwatchable.

And when he continually arrogantly sermonizes on sexual matters he prompts me to expose his tawdry past to the world.

Thus ........ this thread!

Juan ‘the furrowed brow’ Williams is unwatchable for me too. Actually there is very little on Fox that is watchable now so I was pretty surprised to see their viewers are more than CNN & MSNBC combined.

Do be fair to Williams, not of this rises to the level of sexual assault or even I would say abuse, since he stopped doing it when confronted.

OTOH, here’s the guy who of late has basically said Kavanaugh is guilty and that the whole issue IS NOT CLOSED.

WILLIAMS is a second wise guy. He’s gotten away with his mediocrity because he’s black.

You get the impression that the producers have told him:

“You’re on the Five to give the left view point, NO MATTER WHAT THE SUBJECT IS. IT’S YOUR JOB TO GIVE THE OPPOSITE AND MORE OBNOXIOUS AND INACCURATE YOU ARE THE BETTER.

So he’s fast and loose with the facts. He continues to bring up crap that was from the campaign and refuted like Trumpers hitting a black man at a rally, and the tired story about a democrat congressman being spit on...etc.

I find him irritating simply because he’s not well prepared on the issues. Fox fired the black commentator Jackson? Can’t recall his first name Randy or Richard? the guy was great. Very street smart.

If they’re going to keep Williams on the five counter him with Candice Owens...

BTW, any time, and I mean any time I see Williams on as a commentator, eg Caputo has him on there a lot, I turn the TV station. Same with the fat ass bald POS that Laura has on as a token democratic joke.. He’s right our of central casting as a dumbshit democrat jerk. He reminds me of gay waiter I used to run into at one of Chicago’s restaurant. Good waiter, but he’d always have the sweat coming off his forehead.

“This is ancient,” Williams said when Newsweek reached out to him.

No longer a defense, Juan.

What was your behavior like in High School?
