I’m just fed up with you politically correct virtue signalers.
This was a nothingburger, but if it makes you feel holy doing as your politically correct betters dictate, not much else to be said.
Normal, polite people don't decide to follow and ask to talk to children being accompanied by another adult. In fact, I would suggest that if some guy came up to a woman and asked her if her kids were OK, and asked to talk to the children, that woman would be very annoyed. She might actually feel endangered, and react accordingly.
But who knows, you sound like the kind of person who likes being stopped by random people and questioned about what you are doing. Or maybe you are the kind of person that feels the need to but into other people's business.
It has nothing to do with "virtue signaling". Ask anyone who has had to deal with the situation faced by the man with two kids who did not look like him.
