Donald Trump’s former chief strategist slammed Nikki Haley’s decision to announce her resignation as ambassador to the UN as “suspect” and “horrific,” saying it overshadowed positive news Trump needs to rally support ahead of the midterms
“The timing was exquisite from a bad point of view,” Steve Bannon said. “Everything she said yesterday and everything she said about stepping down could have been done on the evening of November 6. The timing could not have been worse.”
Bannon said Haley’s announcement, which took White House officials by surprise, distracted attention from Kavanaugh’s first day as a justice on the Supreme Court and last week’s news about the lowest unemployment rate in five decades. Her move undermines Trump’s message to voters with the Republican majority in the House at stake, Bannon said.
Trump said Haley told him six months ago she wanted a break: “there’s no good time” for Haley to announce, if she waited until after the midterms there would be speculation the election results influenced her decision.
Trump said he’s considering Goldman Sachs partner Dina Powell to replace Haley, a former Trump adviser who left the administration in January.
“We are certainly looking at Dina,” Trump said, but added there are other candidates, including people within the administration.
Bannon, who left the White House in 2017, said he took Haley at her word that she won’t run for political office -- possibly against Trump -- in 2020. Haley said she looked forward to campaigning on Trump’s behalf in two years.
The former chief strategist also paid homage to Haley’s political instincts -- calling her “ambitious” and “very talented,” but did so with a backhanded compliment.
“I think she is incredibly politically ambitious,” Bannon added. “Ambitious as Lucifer but that is probably...I am probably taking Milton out of context.”

I thought the same thing (as headline) and thus tend to belive that maybe she is the leaker. BUT I have to do more reading and research.

Most Americans don’t even know who she is. What Trump did was take her out of SC politics and put in a pro-Trump guy as Gov.
Haley diss’ed Sarah Palin, who had backed her previously; that already told me Trump made a big mistake in choosing her for UN.
I sincerely hope he doesn’t go with NWOBushie Bolton. We’ve wised up since the Bush era!
She is constitutionally ineligible to be POTUS and since she’s not a Democrat the rule will be applied.

Haley’s timing, before midterms, was pretty danged daring for a true Trump supporter. There’s a show boat flavor to Haley, and Tucker Carlson claims she is a neo-con that damned near got us into wars and reminded viewers that she called Trump another Dillon whatshisname that murdered all those people in her state. In a church, it was.
Few to none, here, ever trusted her. That neo-con was thick on her.
That’s right - this is a total yawner.
If Haley tries, she’ll be like whatshername HP Presidential candidate whom Ted Cruz inexplicably gave half a million bucks for her campaign in 2016.

How many UN Ambassadors have we had in the past 3 administrations who told the UN we will defund them for doing nothing? Told Syria and yelled at Iran across the table not to trifle with us?

I used to like Bannon before he became a stoolie for a tell all book. This criticism just lends credence to the “chaos” theme.
The woman wants to move on. She picked the lull between Kav and the midterms to announce it. Trump says he’s fine with it. That’s good enough for me.

But I do know about The Palin diss and agree with you. It’s not “horrific” as Bannon described it because Trump will hire another one of his MAGA maniacs as replacement. No biggie.
