McConnell ready for another Supreme Court vacancy
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/08/18

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is signaling that he is ready and prepared to move another Supreme Court nominee from President Trump through Senate confirmation – including during the the 2020 presidential election season, if another seat were to become available then.

“We’ll see if there is a vacancy in 2020,” McConnell said in an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation."

McConnell famously blocked a Senate vote on former President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nomination Merrick Garland two years ago, on the grounds that it was a presidential election year.

When asked Sunday whether moving a Trump nominee in 2020 would break the precedent he himself set in 2016, McConnell argued that a Senate case in 1880 justified blocking a nominee in the specific situation in which the Senate is controlled by the party opposing the president.

Trump has boasted that he may have the opportunity to nominate several more justices. Court-watchers are closely tuned in, in particular, to the health of liberal justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is 85 years old. The second oldest justice, Stephen Breyer, also generally sides with liberals on the court.

I respect Thomas. So if he wants to retire in a year all good. Trump will have put 3 youthful justices on the bench. Thomas doesnt have to wait to see if Trump wins a 2nd term. Then imagine if RBG croaks it could be 4!

One of these overweight bloated old hags from Ginsberg

BlackElk regularly suggested that RBG could die at any time. She outlasted him, unfortunately. Sometimes those seemingly frail ones just hang on and hang on. I think she is one of those.

“Kavanaugh should show there are no hard feelings by bringing in bear claws for everyone.”

Oh, HELL no! He should show up with multiple kegs and a garbage can full of grain alcohol-laced punch. Oh, and ice, LOTS of ice.

Obama appointed 55 to the circuit courts. We’ve made tremendous progress in two years but we’re only half way to undoing the damage.

The democrats have been whining nonstop about how unfair was the “ Biden rule” to Garland

Now their hypocrisy will be stretched again to argue why it should constrain Trump

I gotta say, I’m done with anything negative to say about the (Mighty) Turtle at this point. The Garland move alone may have saved the Republic. Maybe it’s true that slow and steady wins the race!

Well, there’s a “ free fire zone” at the SCOTUS with Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg “at bat,” and Steven Breyer in the “on deck circle.” And let’s not leave out the Wise Latrina, who suffers from T1 Diabetes. If those three “move on,” just think how lonely the Fat Yenta is going to be! My heart of hearts wish is for a 8/1 SCOTUS. Then even that worthless pr!ck Roberts won’t be able to inflict any more damage.

This sounds counter-intuitive, but I would like the Court shrunk back down to 6 justices.

Why would you want to set up the probability of a bunch of 3-3 decisions? That's insane. Anything that would come from the 9th circus would stand.

“I wonder if Judge Kavanaugh has a mind to straighten out Kagen and Sotomayer?”

To me, the idea of “straightening out” these two dolts utilizes a marble slab.

Even Trump has to start from zero. But he’s very much on course to out-appoint Obama, and there’s even a bill to expand the Judiciary on the District level (51 more judges) and the Circuit level (12 more judges). BTW, those levels are sought by the legal profession even assuming that the existing places are 100% filled. There are still 100 or so vacancies.

He will likely have appointed more Circuit Court judges than O before the end of his first term, and will way surpass him by the end of his 2nd. More importantly, I think that Trump has a real shot at naming 5 USSC Justices: Gorsuch and Kavanaugh already, plus replacements for Breyer, Thomas (middle of the 2nd term...I don’t think he’s that ready to leave yet) and, of course, Notorious RBG. Sotomayor would be a bonus.

The only serious question is: how much will the Earth’s water levels rise because of all of the liberal tears?

And the next one could really shift the court.

Just imagine replacing Ginsburg with Amy Coney Barrett.

With ice.

You know, ICED coffee. I think that he’d have Thomas laughing for the next 3 months about that.
