Where Brett Kavanaugh stands on key issues How Roberts responds to the questions about the court's legitimacy and partisan tendencies spurred by the Kavanaugh nomination could shape public perception of the court for the next generation

Problem is that if the justices write a perfectly-worded legal argument, if it falls afoul of the Left's narrative, they're immediately blasted as black-robed legislators.

Our system of government is under attack. This isn't a judicial battle or an executive battle or even a legislative battle. This is a battle for America.

The instincts of Roberts, who rose in Washington as he served Republican administrations, have always rested with the right wing.

What?

CNN has gone full Bolshie. You neve go full Bolshie.

If it doesn’t toe the liberal line, the Supreme Court is illegitimate.

New Democrat talking point.

Roberts just won’t hear any important cases. It will be a lame duck court until we get a new Chief Justice.

Bravo Sierra.

The only question is, how badly is Chief “Justice” Roberts still compromised and under the control of our domestic enemies?

His illegally adopted children are grown now, the Fraud’s aren’t. What else do the Fraud’s handlers have on Roberts?

Roberts believes in writing law from his bench. He cannot be trusted.

I didn’t read the article, given that it came from CNN, but it’s rather telling that the Left has no problem in thinking and saying that the court is biased. And given what Kagan and the Latina said the other day, this moron from CNN solidifies that view. However, if there were 5 or more, Left leaning Justices, then they’d all be describing the court as the fairest that has ever graced the planet.

Biggest reason they fought so hard against Kavanaugh, they know that Ginsburg won’t be there much longer. At the least, that gives the President a 5-4 court on a bad day, 6-3 most days. Breyer leaves out of frustration and age, the Latina leaves because of health issues, pretty much everything the Left wants to accomplish via the court system vanishes.

And that doesn’t even count things like Sanctuary City funding, Birthright Citizenship and a whole host of other things.

A primary objective for Republicans should be reclaiming the semantics of political discourse, an example of which is provided in this thread: “women’s reproductive rights,” used to mask Progressives’ real agenda for unlimited abortion rights.

Yes. One wonders if CNN is trying to curry favor to bend him to the Left. They are desperate for another swing justice.

They’re trying to sell the idea that votes for Leftist policy will make the court look ever so much more respectable.

With “it’s a tax” Roberts, one never knows if he’s a big enough sap to buy in.

". . . How Roberts responds to the questions about the court's legitimacy and partisan tendencies spurred by the Kavanaugh nomination could shape public perception of the court for the next generation . . .

The corrupt left has never questioned the legitimacy of left-leaning Justices, nor of far-left judicial rulings. I suspect this entire article has an intended audience of one: Chief Justice Roberts. They are hoping to bully him, now that they failed to successfully bully the US Senate over Kavanaugh. Once again, we have #FakeNews from the propaganda organs of the democrat party.

The Dems are damned serious about packing the Court if they ever get majorities + POTUS.

meh

Roberts doesn’t handle the court. Each justice can write an opinion for any case. Roberts showed his true colors already

Bingo. All this hand-wringing about 'legitimacy' is so ridiculous. I don't remember CNN complaining about the legitimacy of Obergefell in which a bare 5-4 majority outrageously usurped the rights of the people and legislatures of the 50 states to write their own marriage laws.

Again with the swing vote thing. It is about following the constitution, not one’s feelings. Leftists jurists can not follow the constitution as written.

“We don’t work as Democrats or Republicans’
BS. The democrats vote lock step on the court.
Roberts lied when he helped passed obamacare which cost millions their jobs.

“Roberts is no centrist conservative with a record of joining the left on closely watched social policy disputes, such as to uphold abortion rights.”

- When did that happen? You can so someone has no record on something that never happened, I guess. Their bias actually creates their own fantasies.
