A stark new report from the global scientific authority on climate change calls on individuals, as well as governments, to take action to avoid disastrous levels of global warming.
The IPCC's models emphasize the need for people to change their lifestyle and consumption patterns to more sustainable alternatives, specifically in areas they can control, like modes of transportation, the buildings they inhabit and their dietary preferences.
Here's what consumers can do:
Transportation: In order to meet the 1.5C goal, the IPCC envisages a future where people travel less, and that generally consumer preferences shift to more sustainable choices like car sharing and hybrid and electric cars. The report also looks at using more efficient modes of travel, e.g. swapping cars, trucks and planes to buses and trains.
Buildings: While this section is less prescriptive, the IPCC suggests that people shift to more sustainable behavior when it comes to their homes, for example using smart thermostats or more efficient air conditioners.
Diets: Again, the models aren't comprehensive, but in general, the IPCC's narrative suggests that people consume about 30% less animal products. Eating less meat is one of a number of mitigation strategies suggested by the IPCC to overhaul agricultural and land-use practices, including the protection of forests. The livestock sector is estimated to account for 14.5% of greenhouse gas emissions globally, more than direct emissions from the transport sector.

Well, I have to admit to single stream disposal of trash. I have one can and everything goes in it. But not in any actual streams.
I will cut back to only burning one tire a week.
Other two will go in the river.
Doing my part for Mother erf.
So they want to tell you what you MUST drive, Where you must live and what you must eat.
Sounds like a “Risky Scheme” to me.
you first.....
Back in the early 80’s I accidentally filled my Saab’s entire tank with diesel. This was in a high traffic area in a Seattle suburb. The station owner got a hose from a store room and we drained the entire tank into the storm drain. Nobody cared.
Different world back then...
Thanksgiving Day today and it is snowing yet again. Last Tuesday, we got a record snowfall; not just for that day, not just for October, but the largest snowfall EVER in Calgary! Geez, I’m sure glad that glow-bull warning is happening, else it would have been an even bigger dump of snow! Please run your Hemi a little longer, thinking of us poor, soon to be snowbound FReepers in AB.

We’re expected to surrender our freedom to a socialist dictatorship, that’s what the liberals want and they’re using global warming to force their beliefs on us.
LOL! Funny thing. We had gone to a jam session last Wednesday night and on the way home we stopped at one of the local casinos. I talked to a fellow from Canada and he mentioned that his home town had just gotten dumped on the day before. Musta been talking about Calgary. ;-)
Well, vellum is kind of non species-specific. I bet we could use Democrats. Kind of similar to humans.
And you can tell they’re really committed because they themselves don’t do any of that stuff. Just for us proles.
Hi.
It’s been said before, if you can’t control the weather, then you can’t control the climate.
I’m done with these fools.

“Eating less meat is one of a number of mitigation strategies suggested by the IPCC to overhaul agricultural and land-use practices, including the protection of forests.”
Personally, I think that is the kicker.
Humans are omnivores with a strong bent to the “meat” side of things. Our brains work better on meat protein.
This is why cults like their subjects to be vegetarians. Humans are much more complainant without meat.
I put recyclables in the garbage - when the wife isn’t looking....
Thanks for the reminder!
I got six old tires I need to burn.
Depending on what part of the city, there was up to 20 inches of snow. The good news was that it was quite fluffy and quickly compacted. It warmed up to a 45-50°F high over the weekend, so other than the snowbanks, it was mostly gone, but it’s coming back today.
.....There....now, hold out the other hand....
